Culture Troon says parents should ask babies for permission before changing diaper - Because changing diapers is totally sexual

'I'm going to change your nappy, is that OK?': Expert claims parents should ask babies for permission before changing diaper

Deanne Carson said it's important to use eye contact to teach infants their response matters but viewers have been left "dumbfounded" by her ideas

A sexuality expert has said parents should ask babies for their permission before changing their nappies in order to set up a culture of consent from birth.

Deanne Carson, who describes herself on Twitter as a 'sexuality educator, speaker and author,' made the claim while speaking on ABC in footage above.

She said she works with children from three years old on issues surrounding consent, but added that parents are advised to introduce ideas much earlier.

Deanne recognised that babies are unable to give an answer, but said it's important to use eye contact to teach them their response matters.

On a segment aired on consent laws, she said: "We work with children from three years old.

"We work from parents from birth."

The reporter seems confused and asks "from birth?"

"Yes, just about how to set up a culture of consent in their homes so 'I'm going to change your nappy now, is that OK,' Deanne responded.

"Of course a baby is not going to respond 'yes mum that's awesome, I'd love to have my nappy changed'.

"But if you leave a space, and wait for body language and wait to make eye contact then you're letting that child know that their response matters."

Many viewers seemed confused by her suggestion with Twitter users saying "I'm not hearing this right surely" and "I'm dumbfounded."

Most parents and caregivers have had the experience of wrestling a kid that doesn't want to have its nappy changed. Children born in this last decade are toilet training later than ever because the nappies available now are designed to be comfortable even when they're soiled. All this 'expert' is going to end up doing is encouraging kids to stay in nappies well into their teens.

So THAT's why there's a rise in the number of diaper fetishists...

I saw a Salon article from a radfem that seriously argued that male babies grasping at breasts was sexual assualt. Let me see if I can dig it up.

This?

I'm sure they had an awful and abusive childhood that's why they are being a snake trying to find a way to make others endure what they did. Pink hair really proves this monster won't show their true colors literally or fugitively.

Iono, Bassomatic. It could be argued they are showing their true colors by way of aposematism.

Let's pretend that there is actually some good non insane reason to teach infants about consent culture. I'm not sure I could think of a worse way to do that than by showing your child, over and over and over again, that you will ask for their consent and then do whatever the fuck you like anyway.

Mm, while not infant-infant, I do understand teaching a really young kid you can tell people not to touch you and that it's wrong if they keep doing it, because pedophiles. But the way to teach that is to not let aunt bertha ignore when the kid says they don't want to be touched, even if it's some innocent cheek kisses. Not to let them stew in their own shit because they're too cranky to say yes to getting changed

Imagine being a new parent, your newborn screaming, you haven't slept for more than 2 hours straight at a time in a week, you need to change his/her diaper and get them to sleep before you pass out...

And caring about this.

how does one ask permission for diaper changing when babies can't even speak?
also no one likes to have shit on their body, that's why babies cry when they shit themselves.

Lady you are just going to give future babyfurs more reasons to not change their diapers.

There's also the issue with giving the impression that nobody is really in charge. Asking the child for consent all the time could have a directly negative impact on their feeling of safety and security in your care. Imagine you're talking to a cop when suddenly, a crazy homeless dude on the same street starts running around stabbing people with a knife. The cop turns to you and says: "What are we gonna do?!" Now imagine growing up with that feeling of 'nobody is in control here'
