I remember when he talked about a fan who emailed him before committing suicide during his Highlander: The Source commentary. Since then he cut down on the suicide jokes, to the point he removed a rather graphic one he planned on using in that review. At the risk of itty bitty powerlevel, years ago when Spoony was streaming on Hitbox, I once popped my head in. Wasn't the best of times since around that time I was about to take the ultimate final math puzzle.
So even though it was utterly pathetic, I vented in the chat about it. Spoony stopped the entire fucking stream on its tracks just to address me and he wasn't being flippant or angry, he was genuinely concerned because he could empathize with another person going through suicidal depression. Most of it boiled down to "get help, there's no shame in it" etc. and stream continued without any problems.
I occasionally compare him to this modern Spoony and dear god he's long gone. Last I heard him display any emotion was when he was told during a stream that one of his fans had died. The old Spoony wanted to help people, the new Spoony just wants to pity himself over everything. Breaks my heart bad.
He seemed genuinely torn up about it. Back then he really cared about the well-being of his fans. Now all he cares about is if they give him money.
