Roger Singaravelu detailed the horrifying moment a kitchen knife sunk three centimeters in to the back of his neck while he was relaxing in the sun. 'She was pushing the knife in to my neck and all she was saying was ''Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar'',' Mr Singaravelu said
Momena Shoma, 24, allegedly drove the knife in to the back of the 56-year-old's head at their Mill Park home in Melbourne's north-east. 'I got woken up and the next minute I saw the screaming from my daughter and Shoma was standing, with a kitchen knife,' he said.
The foreign student was placed in their home by the Australian Homestay Network and allegedly knifed the Nurse only days after she moved in. According to the family, the agency were quick to move Ms Shoma to the home after her previous hosts said they were 'scared of her'. The previously family terminated the stay after claims she played out an attack on a mattress in their home. The Bangladeshi student wore a full burqa with only mesh to cover her eyes and refused to take it off. She was studying at La Trobe university at the time of the alleged Islamic State inspired attack.
While Shayla sustained no physical injuries during the attack her father said she has vivid nightmares and still sees blood on the walls of their home. 'She still sees blood on the wall and asks me to clean it off, although there is nothing there,' he said.
Momena Shoma appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday, charged with engaging in a terrorist act. It's alleged she made full admissions to police after the stabbing and said she was 'acting on behalf of the Caliphate'.
