It has been months since they last saw each other and her going to her 'office' to play Overwatch long into the night, without even CO-OPing with Phil, is something I'd expect of a roommate not a deeply in love soulmaid. Even considering both being NEETs.
 
Maybe for Valentine's he'll give her the spawn seat he doesn't use for her office.

Just kidding, he's already written that off as a business promotion expense and if anyone sits in it except him he would be committing tax fraud. And Phil's just not that sort of guy. Sorry Kat :(

Is it possible that she needed a place to live and he agreed to take her in if they could pretend to be girlfriend/boyfriend? Is that even in the realm (get it?) of possibilities at this point?

I don't see this being a huge deal. You're not going to be fucking or laying on the couch cuddling the whole day. After spending the whole day walking past H&M over and over with Phil, you get home and want to sit down and play some Overwatch by yourself for a bit.

Kat: "Sweety I'm tired *laughs* plus we could do...you know"

Phil: "You can play a little long baby, I don't mind"

Kat: "Philly...I don't want too"

Phil: "Just play Leanna"

Kat: "Sweety I'm Kat and I just..." *starts to get up but Phil forces her back in the chair*

*Phil stands behind her with his hands on her shoulders

Phil: "Just play Leanna. Remember the time we played Operation Raccoon City with my best friend John Rambo?"

Kat: "...yes"

Phil: "Its just me and you....Leanna against the world. My PandaLee, my baby panda, my Pandachan."

Yeah I don't know what people really expect. If you've been with someone for months and been primarily long distance then you've probably been chatting for a few hours every day. At that point you probably know everything about each other (inb4 demonic sibling reveal).

What do people think they're going to do? Sit and stare at each other and recount the day's activities like a DSP prestream? Fuck no.

This is like preschool level relationships 101:
  • "familiarity breeds contempt"

Unless you're actually doing activities together (like watching a movie or playing video games) then talking 1 to 1 is about the most boring thing you can do after a few weeks of knowing someone.

I don't think it's too much to expect to adults tto be able to talk together for a little bit. Everyday? Probably not, but the woman just moved all her shit across the country, I'm sure there are some things they could talk about. They don't actually know eachother.

The good thing is that if this is how things go between them two, it'll probably last for quite a while.

Because he doesn't even know what it is or what it's used for. Remember this is the man who didn't know how to paint a room. He can't cook anything more complex than eggs. He didn't learn how to do laundry until he was 35 years old. The only levels he knows are video games.
