Science Bill Nye got roasted to hell on his Reddit AMA yesterday

Following the massive failure of his recent TV series “Bill Nye saves the world”, Bill Nye the Cuck guy yesterday returned to the home of his largest fanbase, Reddit, to try to shill himself back into their positive graces……. probably in preparation for the return of his show for a second season. If you’re just catching up, even Reddit hates Bill now….. which is saying a lot, considering how much they dick rode him the past decade. Let’s just say yesterday’s AMA didn’t go very well.

Bill Naturally refused to answer any of the controversial questions directed at him (which were basically most of the top comments) and ignored them in favor of the non controversial ones he was more comfortably answering. The whole AMA looked like a graveyard, as most of the top-upvoted comments went unanswered, causing some users to call it “The worst AMA ever”. I’m not even nit-picking, here are the top comments ranked by most upvotes:

I can't help but wonder if this is why he went full exceptional individual with the political stuff. "I don't know how much time I have left, and I want to leave a real legacy, not just 'has-been science popularizer for children.'"

When someone does "A" for 20 years, and has a reputation for doing "A", and then starts to panic what their "lasting legacy" will be... I wonder, what the hell were you doing "A" for if that wasn't it?

Because if he wasn't doing it FOR SCIENCE! (tm) then what was he doing it for? To be sure people remember he was on the "right side" of history when all those kids HE "taught" science to became the ones that invented the robots that ushered in that progressive utopia he dreamed of?

And now that it's dawning on him there will be no Hillary Clinton Presidential Museum, let alone one with his statue out front, he's in panic mode to make it happen at the 11th hour by blindly grabbing at whatever the "hip kids" are up to these days?

Given his unwillingness to debate, prove his points or show his work in any way, or engage in critical dialectic, it is clear that he lives by anti-scientific thinking.

Bill Nye's a figurehead in the vein of virtue signaling creators of content that millennials loved as kids like Rowling. He's there so millennials can have a figure they see as a "scientist" assure them that their worldview is in fact scientifically correct. But not by proving these things withstand scientific rigor, no, but because he is the Science Guy and him saying these things makes them legit.

Lots of people in the TV industry are exceptional and were all along. Not all of them are as vocal as Sean Penn or Jane Fonda (back in the day) or Leonardo DiCaprio or that guy that plays Bruce Banner (these days). Back in the day, people would shake their heads and think less of Fonda (and Penn, who went full exceptional) for doing so. Now that social media is a thing, more and more of them are emboldened to show their exceptionalism, because they get asspats from their peers and the media and exceptional fans for doing so. I'm guessing that Nye has always been exceptional but only chose to make it known recently for good-boy points.

If you're in the scientific or education field, you should have lost all respect for him after that episode of his new show on gender came out. You can totally be in favor of LGBT rights and having respect for the gender they identify as, but don't spread pseudo-scientific, unproven bullshit about "oh, scientifically speaking, gender isn't so clear cut." Don't ever insert your politics or your beliefs into your work as a scientist. You're no better than a crazy Creationist at that point.

Holy Jesus that electron answer is beyond fucked and I'm not even a physicist. He didn't even mention the Pauli exclusion principle except in the most obtuse, wrong way imaginable.

On the topic of his laughable attempts at passing as a scientist with nothing more than an a modest education in engineering: I wonder what all of the atheists i got along with during my "euphoric" phase about ten years ago think of this guy now.

Back then, before the community's we gathered in were infected by social justice, creationists were the primary "enemy" of rational thought rather than anybody to the right of Marx. And a lot (perhaps even the majority of activity) in these forums were arguments between long time users (who often had a legitimate scientific background) and the handful of creationists who would come to debate. It was common knowledge in these places that a lot of the more accomplished creationists who's books and arguments these people would quote didn't have any background in any scientific field and were often, like Nye, engineers.

I'm tempted to venture back into those forums to see if anybody acknowledges his existence but i don't think i can bear it.

How the fuck do they think we're going to move beyond fossil fuels and still have the energy to run society without nuclear? If the problem is radiation, well, burning coal actually releases even more radiation than nuclear power per kilowatt because of the radioactive carbon.

In fact, for the same amount of power, burning coal releases 100 times the level of radioactivity into the environment. So if radioactivity is a big issue, even then, nuclear power is better.
