At least 27 people have been killed and 27 injured in a Texas church shooting today, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The alleged shooter is dead, and it appears there is no longer an active threat at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, about 40 miles southeast of San Antonio, police told ABC News affiliate KSAT in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon.

The church's pastor, Frank Pomeroy, told ABC his 14yr-old daughter is among the dead. He added she "was one very beautiful, special child."

A person who said she works at a gas station across the street from the church told ABC News she heard rapid gunfire at around 11:15 a.m., leading congregants from the church as well as customers at the station to run inside for cover.

“We heard several shots and we all started running inside the store,” she said.

“It lasted about 15 seconds. I yelled, ‘Get down! Get inside!’ and we all went into hiding,” said the woman, who said she is 49 but declined to give her name.

She said the gas station locked its doors. "We have not reopened,” she said.

She then that within minutes of the gunfire, emergency personnel had arrived at the scene.

“There were officers that were checking the wounded in here were asking them questions,” she said.

Connally Memorial Center in nearby Floresville told ABC News it has received six people from the shooting.

The FBI and ATF are heading to the scene, ABC News has learned.

Outside the church, police have formed a perimeter and flooded the grounds with emergency and police vehicles, according to KSAT.

A small group of people were seen standing together, holding hands as tears overtook an attempt to pray, a KSAT reporter said.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement, "The thoughts and prayers of all Texans are with the people of Sutherland Springs as tragic reports come out of First Baptist Church."

"Please join Angela and me as we pray for those impacted by this horrific shooting,” Paxton said.

Just after 3 p.m. Sunday, President Trump tweeted that he is monitoring Texas church shooting from Japan.

The killer has been identified as Devin Patrick Kelley. He was apparently an atheist and was dishonorably discharged from the military due to woman beating and breaking his stepson's skull.

These people are narcissists who think that everybody needs to know about their opinions and how insightful/smart they are for not being like the rest of the sheeple who believe in prayers. Any atheist/agnostic with a shred of dignity doesn't care if people offer prayers; only the really euphoric ones chimp out and rant about their opinions whenever someone mentions something remotely relating to religion.

I'm not really a religious person myself and I don't think prayers do much in the grand scheme of things but they give comfort to those that suffered in such a tragedy and are a very powerful gesture from those that want to express their condolences. It also shows unity and open support. So what about this could ever be bad?
To just shit on that in the way Wheaton did, especially this soon after a tragedy, is simply inexcusable. I don't care how many absolute nobodies on Twitter do it. He's some public figure and therefore under a lot more scrutiny. He's a virtue signaling asshole that has shown -with this single action- that he's completely morally bankrupt and in absolutely no position to ever chastise anyone for anything ever again.

Again, I'm not even much of a religious person, but his ignorance and his inconsiderateness pisses me off to no end.

Guys, the youngest victim of this tragedy was a five-year-old child. (:_(

This guy lived 20 mins from family of mine. A member actually works in New Braunfels.
I hope they're alright.

That's just... Jesus. :heart-empty:

God almighty ... What an evil, evil thing to do. And today, the readings were all about keeping covenant with one another and not binding burdens for others to carry ...

31st Sunday in Ordinary Time dijo:
A great King am I, says the LORD of hosts,
and my name will be feared among the nations.
And now, O priests, this commandment is for you:
If you do not listen,
if you do not lay it to heart,
to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts,
I will send a curse upon you
and of your blessing I will make a curse.
You have turned aside from the way,
and have caused many to falter by your instruction;
you have made void the covenant of Levi,
says the LORD of hosts.
I, therefore, have made you contemptible
and base before all the people,
since you do not keep my ways,
but show partiality in your decisions.
Have we not all the one father?
Has not the one God created us?
Why then do we break faith with one another,
violating the covenant of our fathers?

Latest reports I'm seeing are saying 26 dead. I hope that's because there was confusion earlier and not because the media's now decided to exclude the shooter from the death toll.

You're telling me that we have a small army of ParkourDude91 clones controlling the country's nuclear fucking arsenal!?
No, no, no. Not the arsenal. The reactors on the ships.

And how the fuck do you get a dishonorable discharge in the Air Force? Was his golf score too high?
