Doctor Accused Of "Harassment" - For simply sending a Facebook Request.

An Aga Khan doctor has been accused of harassment after he reportedly sent a friend request to one of his patients. The problem is that this patient happened to be a relative of a celebrity. Filmmaker, journalist and activist Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy tweeted her disgust with the incident and ignited a firestorm of controversy in the process.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy said her sister Mahjabeen sought treatment at the emergency room at Karachi’s Aga Khan University Hospital. Later, she reportedly received a Facebook friend request from the doctor who treated her. The Oscar winner tweeted that she would report the Aga Khan doctor for sending the friend request.

She accused him of harassment and declared, “There are zero boundaries in #pakistan!”

The doctor, who has 4 children, has since been fired from the hospital. One of the doctor’s co-workers confirmed that he had been fired, and said the doctor, described as a “kind and hardworking individual”, was distraught by the hospital’s decision and raised fears that he might attempt to take his life.

Here’s the full message the doctor’s co-worker sent to a journalist:
Dear Ali,
I read your post about sharmeen’s sister being harassed by her treating doctor.
I happen to work with the same doctor in AKU. He is a kind, hardworking individual.
I do not disagree that what he did is[n’t] right but I do not think that how he has been blamed is right at all. It’s as if the individuals with power can do anything they want. He fell victim of sharmeen[‘s] endless attack to stop so called femnine harassment to a height
where he got fired from his job. I met him the day the office broke this news to him and he was sad enough to make me worried that he might end up hurting himself. Ridiculed in the hospital and now left unemployed with 4 kids to look after as a result of sending a friend request which could have been easily rejected and swept under the carpet is not Justice.
I just want you to understand that everyone is human. These celebs aren’t the only ones who have right and authority to do what they think is right. This should have been resolved in some other manner.

Social activist Maleeha Hussain told Geo News that sending a Facebook friend request doesn’t constitute as harassment. She said it would be harassment if he had sent an indecent message or inappropriate picture, but the doctor hasn’t been accused of doing either of these things. She also notes that unwanted friend requests can simply be ignored, and the person can be blocked without a scene being made about what happened.

Others, such as journalist Uzma Alkarim, side with Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, saying that “there must be more to the case than meets the eye” since she used the term “harassment.” She also noted that most hospitals don’t allow doctors to initiate contact with patients.

They have it here, and that's what this woman and her side counted on. And he got fired so it's not like she didn't have an impact. It's pretty clever actually.

Unfair to lose your job over something like this. If the hospital felt it was inappropriate just warn the doctor not to do it again. Firing someone is pretty serious. It's stuff like this that makes people not take real sexual harassment seriously. In fact, it can make people feel more shame about coming forward since they feel they will be laughed at. Even with #metoo it's being abused by triggered snowflakes. So it will lose it's meaning and goal entirely.

Correlation does not equal causation though.

When Bradley Manning leaked classified information, he didn't get arrested because a bunch of Republicans took to Twitter to condemn him.
You're right, and I am making some assumptions. But do you think triggering public outrage wasn't her intent? Pakistan may be a shithole but she obviously felt confident in spreading this as far and loud as she could.

Of all the women's issues you could speak out on in Pakistan, this is the one you choose?

Pathetic.
Lady, it wasn't even you. It was your fucking sister. Dudes already got a family; he wasn't hitting on her, he was probably just genuinely getting along with the lady. Maybe he wanted to be able to contact her about her condition over Facebook. Who the fuck knows. Holy shit.

Imagine you're a woman who got raped, like, last night. And you dont know what to do, you're totally lost, you want to talk to somebody, but you dont know who, you want a counsellor, guidance, help, whatever--you go to the women's shelter, because you dont know where else to go and you dont really want to bring it up with your friends; you go up to the counter and the lady says, "Im sorry, you'll have to take a number. We cant see you today because we have 41 other women who were traumatized online because some creep they dont know tried to add them on Facebook." We have to teach them to remember to breathe, breathe deeply and calm down, and gently hit the 'decline' button.

How far is too fucking far?

I'm kinda glad that even social justice warriors or organizers if you want to put it like that, are now realizing that there is some form of extremism being played in their ranks. You rarely get that honestly.

I would say this is the most condemning evidence against the dude, but Bradley Manning also bit the hand that owned him. He didn't selectively release information, he didn't just reveal "Trump's ties to Russia", he dropped it all. He was not a good boy. Had he decimated whoever the masters wanted, while withholding certain information, he would be a very good boy. Keep in mind Obama campaigned on a SJW policy and didn't even try to come close to that. He was going to shut down Guantanamo Bay and it's still open and more active than ever, and he had 8 years--you can cry opposition all you want but he never really had any, at least not that much; if anything it was mostly a scapegoat, nobody wants to change shit. Nobody's getting rid of that shit. Dude campaigned for change, better than Bush, all this other shit, while he carried out 8 more years of the same policies, crying crybaby about how he couldn't do anything different because mean dang old trolls woulnt let him, counting the fucking money piling up in his bank account.

Democrats wonder why they're losing ground when all of them are as corrupt as fucking Scrooge McDuck while crying about social "justice" and that shit. The only justice paid is in gold fucking bullion.

I mean it's like the parable about the mouse crossing the river and the snake that carries him (or whatever animals, I dont remember the exact fable), I'd trust a snake that told me what he was before I trust a scorpion who swears up and down he isnt gonna hurt me, pinkie promise--stinger menacingly primed above my fucking head. I mean how many "male feminists" have been exposed as sexual predators?

(It was the story about the scorpion wanting to cross a river but asking the frog to carry him, and the frog down want to because he knows the scorpion will sting him, but the scorpion swears he won't because then they would both drown, so the frog carries the scorpion and halfway across the river the scorpion stings the frog and they start to drown and the frog is like" Why would you do this?" and the scorpion is just like "Im a fucking scorpion, dumbass". I remember it now.)

I mean, I can sort of understand where they're going with this. The doctor did what, remembered her name from the intake form and then scanned Facebook until he found the exact Sharmeen Obaid he saw in the ER? That's creepy as fuck, dawg.
Yeah what could be creepier than remembering the name and face of someone you met.
He's in Pakistan, do you really think they have outrage culture there?

Pakistan already had problems with mob justice before social media, I doubt its addition had a calming effect on things.

Jesus Tittyfucking Christ, do none of you have any idea what professional standards of behaviour are?
Firing is probably a bit harsh, but a doctor friending a patient he has no relationship with outside of work is way over the line.
Go outside, interact with real life people and get jobs. Fuck.

This really sounds like a parody of the oversensitivity of people nowadays and the whole "messed with the wrong women" Twitter schtick sounds so cartoony.

It's weird and not really professional but its nothing to get fired over. We are also hearing the story from the lady's sister and not the lady herself so it's kind of like the weirdest form of "#metoo stolen valor".

Yeah, the last thing we need is people taking seriously "he raped her because he's a 4/10" (no offense @entropyseekswork ) or else we'll have to start watching #metoo threads for incel infections.
