This is anecdotal, but my Mom is as much of a moderate as they come, and doesn't really watch superhero movies. She absolutely adores the Nolan movies, to the point where it's probably her favorite film trilogy. For all of his complaining and posturing towards really understanding Batman, deep down he's salty that for a lot of people, the Nolan Batman is the Batman to them, and not just his strawmanned enemies.

Passengers can all fuck off and pilots would still have an important skill that isn't subjective opinions. Your friends likely do have a better grasp of your taste than any Chipman out there.
