I'm not sure about US law so maybe someone else can answer this, but is the Star Wars screening thing even legal? She's effectively buying a whole screening's worth of tickets (two times over) and then reselling them at massively inflated prices to make money for her 'campaign' does Disney or the cinema not have rules against this?

Sounds like capitalism. The theaters are already taking Disney's content and selling seats at an inflated price. I don't see any reason why the theater can't sell out the entire theater to someone who further inflates the price. Everyone gets their money- Disney and the cinema. No one is getting cheated.
So the only problem would presumably be if Disney has some weird clause in the contract that prevents movies from selling out blocks of seats. I see there are news stories of people renting or reserving theaters for the previous movies so I doubt there's a problem.
A fool and his money are soon parted.

Oh no, he saw the hastily put together, and successful, "Awesome Games Done Quick" charity event for Houston the other week, it pulled in a bunch of money.
That was my first thought and it isn't a terrible idea to do something like that. But it would require roping in white male speed runners that have some following, planning, scheduling, timely execution and all the things that is to Brianna what silver bullets are to a werewolf.
It's more likely what Norvic said, a Destiny 2 guild/thing. Pay money for a ticket to do exclusive raids with Wu!

Short answer? NO!
It may not be a copyright violation per se, since the theater has obviously purchased licenses to the film to show it. John has also, if you believe his claims, rented the theater, which has itself purchased a license to use it.
What John has done, though, is associated the Star Wars marks, which Disney owns, with his political campaign. Disney has not authorized this. Disney probably would not approve of a political campaign by a feral ghoul that attempts to unseat a popular Democrat.
That violates the Lanham Act, which protects trademarks, among other things.
