Not that I disagree with the sentiment being expressed about ANTIFA, but I feel the need to argue that there shouldn't be a democratic process (i.e. a popularity contest) over what groups get designated as terrorist organizations by the state. Anyone who thinks that the number of signatures on this petition should inspire any government response should probably consider the implications of that and who else might end up on the receiving end of similar petitions.

Of course it's not a process of direct action where once a petition hits X signatures it becomes law. I just have issues with the underlying premise that popular demand should have any influence on how intelligence or law enforcement services classify groups.
