I'm not going that deep with it because you said it yourself: it's the cyberbullying show lol. If people can find a crumb of something that causes the smallest amount of discomfort and/or insecurity they'll treat it as a feast. Blame has shown that with his streams and people have decided it's more funny to tear him down than raise him up.

Blane handed it well when it was first brought up and because he didn't seem bothered people let off. I think people got distracted by bigger things for a while following that and Blane got time to acclimate to the tank flying under the radar before he got to doing more loud and appreciated acts so I think it is reasonable that his degeneracy was swept under the rug for a while.
