Once again I respond to "Government/party wants to BAN thing" with "with what army?"

Police can't fucking police with the laws we currently have, we still have XL Bullies wandering the streets because the ban means absolutely NOTHING to the owners and police don't exactly want to wrestle a dangerous dog away from its owner in the streets when they can just wait for SOMETHING to happen and then charge the owner with criminal neglect etc.

The Greens could make it so you need a paper dog licence to walk your dog and it applies to every single dog (so it's not just something that can be eyeballed from a distance) and absolutely fuck all would happen because it's such a low level "crime" that nobody would give a fuck.

To put everything into context, remember that Cannabis was reclassified as Class B a while back. Surely that meant that nobody smoked it anymore and everyone became nice, wholesome citizens right? Fuck no. A mate of mine straight up walked past a copper while smoking a joint and the copper did the obvious "I pretend I didn't see it" look so he could pretend he would have arrested the guy. I knew he wouldn't, he knew he wouldn't and he knew we knew he wouldn't. It's such a performative fucking ritual with coppers nowadays because they're mostly just there to look like they're enforcing the law, not actually being responsible for enforcing it. Tenner bet it was a 'special police officer' who just removed the bit from his uniform so he could roleplay as a real copper getting paid.

In other news, Rupert Lowe wants ~~to give everyone cancer~~ allow landlords to choose if they want to have a smoking section of the pub as long as it's separate and ventilated. People are obviously up in arms about how every pub will now be full of fag smoke like back in the day. Most people these days hate the right to choose whether or not to do something. Because landlords can choose to have a smoking room now, every pub in the UK will have one and everyone will get cancer unless the government keeps banning it indoors.

There should be serious consequences for an attack like that, and for a prisoner on a life sentence maybe execution should be up for debate?

Tbh, I've always been against the death penalty because innocent people can fall foul of it, either through wrongful conviction or for political reasons, but when I read about Rudakubana doing that in prison, it did make me wonder what the fuck the point is in keeping him alive as he's still a danger to the innocent people who work around him.

Gardai arrested a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s during the operation targeting "radicalised republicans", in which an explosive device capable of inflicting "significant damage" was seized.

An "extremely significant" car bomb has been intercepted by Irish police near the border with Northern Ireland.

A female driver in her 20s has been arrested after the Gardai discovered the explosive during an operation targeting "dissident republicans".

The device was found in a car travelling on the N2 south of Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, about 6.21 miles (10km) from the border with Northern Ireland.

On Friday, Irish police said the car bomb had been intercepted on Wednesday afternoon that had the potential to cause "significant damage".

A man, aged in his 40s, has also since been arrested and is being held at a Garda station in the Dublin area.

Both were arrested on suspicion of offences against the state.

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly said police had made an "extremely significant seizure" and indicated the bomb had already been constructed when it was seized.

"Unfortunately for operational reasons, I can't go into the exact detail of the device," he said.

"But what I will say, certainly it was a significant explosive device. So certainly not just the seizure of components or pieces.

"This was an explosive device and it would have or could have potentially caused significant damage."

Garda sources have described the bomb as "highly sophisticated" and "advanced".

Gardaí requested the assistance of the Irish Defence Forces EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team to complete an examination of the vehicle.

Commissioner Kelly said pulling over of the car was "not a random stop" and had been an "intelligence-led operation".

He said there were still people who did not accept the peace treaty implemented under the Good Friday Agreement, that ended decades of sectarian conflict in Ireland known as the Troubles.

"Any seizure of this nature is really concerning," he said.

"However, we certainly know that there are a small minority of dissident republicans who did not agree with the Good Friday Agreement, they did not put weapons and explosives (out of use), they didn't, you know, go through with the proper process in relation to decommissioning. So that is something that we continue to deal with.

"There's a small minority of these individuals, I would describe them as radicalised republicans, and this is a threat that we're going to continue to face for some time in An Garda Síochána."

Police Service of Northern Ireland Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck said police on both sides of the Irish border shared a "joint commitment" to tackle the dissident republican terror threat.

"This underlines our joint commitment to address the threat posed by violent dissident republican groups and keep communities safe," he said.

'Deeply concerning'

The discovering has elicited concern from politicians both in Ireland and the UK.

Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Bryant thanked the An Garda Síochána, Irish national police and security service, for their "quick, decisive action".

"Intercepting a dangerous device like this undoubtedly saved lives and kept communities safe on both sides of the border," he said.

"Strong cross-border security cooperation remains as vital as ever."

Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Emma Little-Pengelly said in a post on X that the incident is "deeply concerning".

Ireland's justice minister Jim O'Callaghan described the seizure as "very worrying".

"I think it is very significant," he said. "I've been updated on that by the (Garda) Commissioner. I think it evidences the fact that there is an ongoing threat in respect of dissident republican activity."

He added: "The device has been, I suppose, procured for the gardaí and has been defused. So there's lots of issues in respect of it that are concerning. But I also want to commend the gardaí for the work they did in ensuring that this didn't become a real threat to the public."

Sporadic attacks by ⁠militant groups, often attempted car bombings, continue in Northern Ireland almost three decades after the 1998 peace deal largely brought sectarian violence in the British-run region to an end.

He is a libertarian. He went on a bizarre gun rights tangent on that Joe Rogan interview. Now I know from an American perspective that’s like the fundamental number one issue that everyone should be thinking about, but I can assure you, very few people in the UK actively want more guns around.

But he seemed to have a bee in his bonnet about it because someone made a false complaint about something he said, so the feelings police showed up and checked on his guns or whatever. And he complained that his uncle had had to give up his duelling pistols (!!) due to the hand gun ban after the Dunblaine massacre in which a dozen young school children were murdered. He referred to it as “one murder in dunblaine”.
That was remarkably out of touch and insensitive, and not likely to make people sympathetic to your general cause.

As far as the smoking room thing goes, I actually agree with him on the principles but again, it just seems like a cranky old man thing to be talking about it now. Isn’t there a migration crisis and the country is nearly bankrupt and faces serious external threats basically defenceless? Pick your battles for fucks sake.

I'd also like to point out that Axel got moved to fucking Broadmoor. That isn't some cushy NHS hospital. It's where we send people to drug them up to the fucking gills and break them. It's not an execution, but it's probably the closest we have to one without actually killing someone.

Frankie Fraser went in there and immediately straightened up because he wanted to get the fuck out. Bronson went in there and immediately wanted to get out. All sorts of killers such as Sutcliffe and one of Rigby's murderers were or currently are permanently in there. It's one of the last vicious insane asylums in the west.

You go in there, you get hooked up on every damn sedative until you're a husk spending all day bumping your head against a wall. We keep it as a deterrent from insanity defence pleas because it's far worse than any prison.
In fact any mental health hospital here is dire, I've known relatives who did maintenance work at a couple and they've seen people immolate themselves, among other things.

Broadmoor is not Great Ormond Street, that's for sure, and I'm not sure why Lowe is wanting Axel out of there when it's worse than the likes of Belmarsh.

Rupert Lowe just says things without thinking it through. That's his main problem when the MSM takes everything he says and twists it to the worst possible version.
By "one murder" he meant one incident where the police massively screwed up before hand and now everyone is worse off. But because he's a retard he said "one murder" and didn't consider what the BBC ect could do with that word choice. It's not the first time he's done this either, thinking back to the ethnonationalism debacle.
Someone needs to sit down with him and talk about thinking before speaking. Or someone needs to keep an eye out in interviews and tell him when he says dumb shit so he can provide context before the media shitstorm.

It's particularly hard for Restore to have a downfall because it's not like they're in a high enough place to fall. It's why Lowe comes across as 'old man shouts at cloud' at times, he's running a party with ONE MP and acting like he can take down Reform, Labour and the Tories at once by being more right wing than Reform.

He can say whatever he wants and it doesn't really matter because Restore's ceiling is about 5 MPs in the next general election before people forget the atrocities of Labour and the Tories and go back to voting for them. In an ideal world, Restore would simply be a think tank that lobbys the government in a way to counteract the leftist lobbying, which would do them a world of good. I think that's what their other website was meant to be before they settled on Restore as a party.

I like Lowe, but in an ideal world he'd have been Reform's chairman and helping to dictate policy from within. Now he's out of the party he's basically marooned but still has parliamentary priviledge so gets to say whatever he wants, for better or worse. Saying he'd hang Axel R is straight up retarded and there's no justification for it.

I think he's completely beyond redemption or rehabilitation and is basically going to be a schizophrenic shut in until his brain collapses in on itself, but a vicious assault on a prison guard is not hanging material. When you lower the bar of hanging to 'assaulting a government worker' then you basically say that anyone who bashes up a copper at a protest is worthy of being hanged. KILLING a prison guard? Yes, but assaulting one? No.

Capital punishment requires a capital crime, not a significantly smaller crime after the capital punishment worthy offense that was miscatagorised.

I’d happily hang rudukabana but there are multiple reasons promising this is dumb;
- you cant retroactively sentence people
- how do they propose to reinstate the death penalty? I am in favour of it, what I don’t trust is successive governments not to make a racism a capital crime. And to reinstate it they will need to rip out whole swathes of the law, and get us out of multiple treaties and agreements, and deal with pressure from Europe - will they do that?
If they can repeal all the Blair era laws that created a lot of madness I would be very much in favour. Lowe would have been better to say that if he committed that crime he SHOULD have been hanged.

She could be a victim of grooming by the group rather than a "true believer", especially as the fella with her is twice her age (women are less likely to be suspected and so are targeted by groups, ie for taking bombs into crowded markets), but I do agree that it seems like the wider population are getting more radicalised. Young people have essentially had their promised lives 'stolen' from them by mass migration, no jobs, no houses, rape everywhere, thieves everywhere, and are lashing out with whatever political group catches them first.

The National Party (far right) in Ireland have been all over my timelines recently, and even a few weirdo commie Irish groups have started turning against mass African immigration. Interesting times indeed.

They managed to conjure up a legal framework where the state will agree to kill you as "healthcare" (as long as you go to Jersey and say you're "clinically fed up"). Surely it's not beyond the wit of man?
