Sony hate thread

Imagine if they put this much effort into modding a system that hasn’t already been modded and actually has exclusives games worth exploiting.
When you finally realize 1) people can do more than one thing at a time, 2) multiple people exist, 3) other people might be working on something besides [thing you personally disapprove of], you'll start to understand the possibilities are truly endless.

Does it personally offend you that people also once worked on a TurboGrafx 16/PC Engine emulator too? They weren't super-popular either compared to the two "big boy" 16-bit consoles, after all.

£30k is nice and all, but it's just not enough IMO. It costs Sony nothing to add a zero or two to that same bounty and cuck FULU, as long as the exploit finder is after money motivated. Plus like someone else said, it just opens yourself up to being Nintendo'd and sued to oblivion.
louis clearly wants the smoke and is calling their bluff. If louis manages to win and set precedent it will be the biggest possible victory sony could hand him. You are correct in your assertion that sony could just pay more for it and i think that is their best option.

Sony only pays $500-$50,000 for their own exploit bountries. Thus far, only a single critical exploit has been found between current Playstation platforms that was paid $15,000.

Nintendo is currently having their fucking asses handed to them in their efforts to litigate Palworld into oblivion. Nintendo has suffered a series of humiliating defeats in that effort and that trend has held firm since they started that bullshit. They've had their patents invalidated (in both the US and Japan -- even they're sick of Nintendo's bullshit), been told by the US copyright office their allegations of copyright violation are unlikely to succeed on the merits, and as it stands now the only "win" Nintendo has any chance of scoring will be a paper victory with a determination of very minor infringement of one copyrighted element, with a maximum payout from the Palworld devs of maybe five figures.

"Being Nintendo'd" is quickly changing definitions. Soon it will mean "unintentionally promoted, uplifted and given unexpected security as your aggressive opponent steps on rakes to prove you've done nothing illegal without you lifting a finger." So sure, let's get Nintendo'd! :story:

once again I must ask you this: are they actually getting patents removed that arn't related to one lolsuit, or is this just copium you're huffing in the vain hope that "the niggercattle are waking up"?

well, to be fair, the news about the patents themselves has been the only tangentally related news about the Palworld lolsuit, given the actual news about it has been purely behind the legal doors and nethier side can legally say anything about what's actually going on beyond vauge statements approved by thier respective lawyers.

hell even the news about Nintendo loosing patents has been purely just been the lolsuit, There has been no news about Nintendo loosing any other patents that they have (one example being the Animal Crossing "animalese" voice system), almost like the ones they did lose only lose it because it was related to a lawsuit that they were fighting for.

Look, all I'm saying is that for the past two fucking years, I've seen one side screech nintendo is doomed, nintendo already lost the suit, it being thrown out is a foregone conclusion and will officially happen in the next couple weeks, if not days, and pocketpair is gonna countersue and they might even win a piece of the pokemon IP (this is one I've unironically heard dozens of times), while the other has said "yeah, these patents weren't even about the lawsuit, so they have no bearing on it". Well, 2 years is a lot more than "2 weeks, trust the plan!", so forgive me if I find one particular side more reasonable after all this time.

RAM and VRAM, it's split on PC as well. Sony had some ideas about having their own GPU based on Cell powering the PS3, but they scrapped it and got an Nvidia GPU and since it wasn't using XDR-memory they got two pools of memory using two different types of memory. Similar to a PC.
It wasn’t a cell-based GPU they were planning on using, it was a second full Cell in the dedicated role of graphics calculations.

Did I miss something? Their patents have been invalidated/revoked. Their claims in their copyright suit against Pocketworld have (through motion practice) been drastically reduced and narrowed.

Do you dispute these events? Did this get misreported? Can you cite evidence to the contrary?

That kinda reminds me of the last time people said Nintendo was doomed and it was all over for them. And the time before that. And the time before that. And the time before that. And the time before that…

Always on goytendo's defense I see, regardless of the thread. Weird.
Asking a simple question of clarification is shilling for a corporation now?

Oh wait, the guy saying that is still mentally 12 and thinks piracy is on par with Buddhism enlightenment, how silly of me to think that nuance is to be expected in a would be "video game thread".

the vain hope that "the niggercattle are waking up"?
yea, @moocow, you are my nigger, but Bob does have a point. It doesn't matter if Nintendo wins or loses the lawsuit, because they're still Nintendo, and Pokemon is literally the highest grossing media franchise on the planet. Game Freak could literally shit in two paper bags and call them "Pokemon Wind and Waves" and they'd still sell like hotcakes.

though, how fucking shit does the gaming industry have to be that a thread solely dedicated to shitting on one company devolves into shitting on its competition instead?

though, how fucking shit does the gaming industry have to be that a thread solely dedicated to shitting on one company devolves into shitting on its competition instead?
because said company has already shat itself and there is nothing else outside a gaping anus while the competition is still shitting itself, call it the sony luck i guess, most of it's competitors shit itself in a spectacular way it draws attention from them shitting themselves.

the thing about most of the would be Pokemon competetors or "Pokeclones" of history is that they tend to either expand real fast only to petter out competently, or relegates to a smaller but still pretty good populace of players even when they became mega-hits (See Yo-Kai Watch or TemTem), or end up being one-and-dones (A lot of the indie games that are similar to pokemon) or in the case of Digimon.... just being plain mismanaged to hell while there's one real aspect of it that kind of persists in the sucess department with the tamagachis.

the only thing that realistically sets Palworld apart besides being wildly different from any pokemon game is that besides the lolsuit giving some form of passive relevance and being buddy-buddy enough with Sony to form something akin to The Pokemon Company, is that they more or less are following the Minecraft model of just adding new content to the existing game, which has it's pros and cons as demonstrated from Minecraft, Terarria, Fortnite and the many other games that follow that model, among which on the con side being feature creep and the newer content being increasingly further removed from the original idea of the game itself, though Palworld is comparatively young at 2 years since it started in Early Access compared to the decades those examples had so it would probably be a while before we see something similar happen to it.

If Palworld really wanted to be a competetor strong enough for Game Freak and by extension TPCi and Nintendo to actually feel threated financially, well... they need to simply prove that they do have the staying power that every game franchise that was mega successful or just plain sucessful enough to warrent a sequel/continued support, weither by the updates continuing to be good enough for it's playerbase, or making followup entries that can follow up the quality of the original and can build that momentum into being more prominant in the public zietgiest.. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was many of the industry giants. It took until the 5th generation for many of the AAA studios from Activision to Ubisoft to really get a big enough foothold in sales and IPs (or good licenced games) to break into where they were in the following two generations and now, and a lot of the "competition" did come down to being actually similar games or being released in the same timeframe, Hell even Pokemon or similar franchises (gaming or otherwise) that had a big boom when they hit the scene like Spongebob had a similar perioid where they wern't the defacto media franchise of thier fields and thier respective corporations behind them simply figured out how to capatalize on it faster, even if it was in part because the formulas behind them were practically figured out on day one due to how much planning went behind them.

It's going to be years before Palworld would be a more significant threat than a lolsuit that 99% of the ongoing results on the outside is speculation and clickbait fodder with things adjacent to the lawsuit being clingged onto and 1% being what can be made out from what does come through the NDAs and legal statements that currently amounts to "Nothing ever happens", in short let them (PocketPair) cook before immedately claiming thier game going to be the thing that slays the giant that is Pokemon.

and look, I didn't need to sperg about da jooz, piracy and/or emulation, or went on tangents on how Nintendo or whatever the relevant megacorporation is literally Hitler infinite-billion and people who don't think the same way as I do are bootlickers to type this!
