That's the Asha Degrees case.i can't recall her name but this thread makes me think about this semi-known missing case. (i'm probably misremembering the details since googling about it just brings up facebook posts of parents with missing kids and not this specific kid herself...) i believe she was 11 or 12? little black girl. just up and walked out of her house one morning around 6 am without the family noticing and all she took was a backpack, and the only witness was plausibly this one truck driver who said he saw a similar little black girl walking along the highway but she bolted upon being noticed.
nobody ever found anything about online chatrooms / external people talking to her / someone outside the home convincing her to exit (she shared a bedroom with her brother who was half-awake at the time and said he heard her trying to sneak and be quiet.)
were there ever any developments in this case?? i know the family does an annual walk about her
My thought as well. Gators can move very quickly too and if there is a gator in the area that already ate one of her dogs, I’m not surprised that this is likely what happened to her as well.Poke Salad Annie, Gator got your Granny.
Listening to the podcast In the Dark about this case--everyone should. It's season 1 of this podcast and it's disgusting how lazy law enforcement was in Jacob's case. It shouldn't have taken that long to find his body and arrest his killer.20/20 covered the Jacob Wetterling case. I completely forgot about him but it doesn't help i was mixing him up with Johnny Gosch. Hearing about his final hours was heartbreaking.
I broke. The people interviewed broke. The people watching it in the bar all broke. I can't really explain it but there is pure evil in this world. Normally I do not let these cases get to me emotionally but this was just horrifying.Guy in his 20s is known to abduct and molest boys. He picks Jacob out of a trio riding bikes. He handcuffs him and puts him in truck. Jacob is asking "what did I do wrong?" He asks to go home. Creep says he isn't going home. They stop near a gravel pit where he makes him strip naked and perform a sex act on the creep. Jacob says he's cold. Starts crying for his mom. Creep makes him get dressed then claims he heard sirens go by. Creep tells him to turn around before shooting him. He shoots him twice. Buries him. Moves his body later on.
Is it bad I'd rather live in delusional land like Noreen Gosch at times?
There were search warrants executed in February 2025, but no arrests came of it.That's the Asha Degrees case.
I'm not sure if there's been much in the way of updates, but I might be wrong.
Oh, God. Out of all the stories here, this one got to me the most. The poor kid. This is the first one that brought me near tears.20/20 covered the Jacob Wetterling case. Oh same and I tend to listen to these cases with as much emotional detachment as possible. Knowing Jacob cried right before he was shot but after being sexually assaulted is a detail you cannot ever forget. Shame on that police department for their fucking incompetence. Jacob's killer was a known molester in the area with tons of living victims that had to grow up and advocate for themselves to get that POS arrested.Oh, God. As good as it is that the public is aware of the crime, this is the first time I regret actually clicking to read it.Oh same and I tend to listen to these cases with as much emotional detachment as possible. This conversation reminds me of the Staircase, about the guy who totally didn't murder his wife and try to cover it up and the documentary about his trial. They clearly try to manipulate you into some sort of reasonable doubt, then you find out the guy filming it was fucking the guy on the side and left out a whole bunch of info that shows he absolutely did it.
The podcast goes into it more but the TLDR is the police department didn't bother to interview people in the area that saw Jacob and the other two boys the night of the abduction. Multiple residents saw them out but were never interviewed. A NYPD detective is interviewed about the best way to gather intel in a case like this and basically said you interview witnesses over and over. You ask them for details they may not find important but could be paramount to the investigation. Another major fuck up was Jacob's killer had already been identified by a living victim two years prior for molestation. He had identified Jacob's killer in a line up two years before. Instead of keeping the investigation local law enforcement blew the story up nation wide and you know what happens in a pre Internet age by doing that? You're going to get a ton of pointless false leads that waste everyone's time. You're going to get wasted of oxygen like psychics giving a family false hope they're son wasn't shot in the back of the head not even two hours after abduction. The Wetterling case is a frustrating read once you realize how lazy and incompetent Minnesota law enforcement and the FBI acted in a case that should not have taken until 2016 to be solved. What did they fuck up? I know the guy that did it was a suspect from the beginning but no more than that.
Made even funnier after the guy who made it admitted to being a lifelong alcoholic since basically everything he suffered in that film line up 1:1 with lifelong alcoholism."Wow no shit. If you eat massive portions of burgers and fries and soda for every meal, you'll get fat and feel like garbage. Why do you need a documentary to tell you that?"
And then there's Bojangles. Tell me there was nothing suspicious about a guy practically drenched in blood to the point he made the bathroom he cleaned up in look like a murder scene itself. And then they just mop it up and don't even examine someone who OBVIOUSLY did SOMETHING that day.I can answer. Because I think that stepdad was sketchy as hell.
This is why my alternate batshit theory is they ALL did it. Byers, the WM3 and whoever the fuck Mr. Bojangles was, and it actually was some kind of organized occult activity like that tarded expert testified to.Also, his DNA being found on the crime scene.
And trucking companies document that stuff pretty meticulously so his alibi was rock solid. We know through this testing that Todd Moore (Michael Moore's father) had his DNA found at the crime scene, but Todd wasn't even in West Memphis the day the murders occurred as he worked as a trucker.
I like this but organized occult activity doesn't exist. Rape apes just make rape clubs, I think the Australians invented it back when they were trying to be more English than the English. This is why my alternate batshit theory is they ALL did it. He also neglected to mention he was a massive alcoholic who drank copiously throughout the entire making of the movie. Look at his "symptoms" caused by "McDonald's." They're exactly what heavy alcohol abuse also causes.I remember everyone was raving about it and calling it eye opening. And when I saw it, I thought "Wow no shit. If you eat massive portions of burgers and fries and soda for every meal, you'll get fat and feel like garbage. Why do you need a documentary to tell you that?"
Manson's cult was organized occult activity, descended from Aleister Crowley through JPL rocket scientist Jack Parsons and L. Ron Hubbard.I like this but organized occult activity doesn't exist. Oh. Fucking Minnesota. Missed that detail. Makes it make a bit more sense. The Wetterling case is a frustrating read once you realize how lazy and incompetent Minnesota law enforcement and the FBI acted in a case that should not have taken until 2016 to be solved.

OK but demons aren't real. It's just organized rape.Manson's cult was organized occult activity, descended from Aleister Crowley through JPL rocket scientist Jack Parsons and L. Ron Hubbard.
