>Bobby Goes Libtard!

Wait, I wanted to hate this new season, but Bobby's line "They have classes on how to throw rocks at Mexicans?" fucking killed me. I might actually keep watching, not sheerly out of hate and boredom.

Episode 15x03:
Dale appears completely sane in this episode. Almost everything he recommends is a good (if comically exaggerated) idea. I do most of them. Minimal (not quite zero) true-name social media presence. Data broker suppression. I don't answer the phone unless I know who's calling. I haven't recorded a voicemail message. I used to carry pocket sand, but that was only because I lived in the desert and it gets everywhere.

Two good resources for managing data about you, probably Dale-approved even if one comes from the government:
Big Ass Data Broker Opt-Out List
CFPB List of Consumer Reporting Companies

Dale says Hank's SSN starts with 263. Wouldn't that be Florida? Hank Hill is a proud New Yorker.

I like Bobby's realization that he's becoming like his father, but I have no idea why he's pretending to be Sylvester Stallone. It doesn't follow naturally from his previous scene with Joseph and Connie.

Episode 15x04:
"Is that an alien's private parts?"
Looks down in shame.

Autistic thoughts of Season 15 from a lifelong fan - if Season 14 wasn’t to your liking Season 15 won’t change your mind but it is better. I think the soft reboot is better than the lows of the later seasons but goes without saying nowhere near the first five seasons - but I’ll never expect any modern sitcom to be as good as peak King of the Hill.

Best episodes - Episode 2, probably the funniest episode with the Hills rescuing their new shitty dog Cesar, hit really close to home about what it’s like to love a pathetic helpless mutt. If you’ve ever held a dog trying to comfort it while fireworks go off on the 4th of July you know what it’s like. Episode 7 is one of the best Peggy Hill episodes the series has ever had, Peggy is really written well here being an arrogant bitch and she actually saves the day in a really well written way. Episode 10 is the best episode of the season it was just great to go back in time before the timeskip and see the old designs again. And Hank becoming the co-owner and MANAGER OF STRICKLAND PROPANE was well earned,

The bad - still hate Khan’s new voice actor, Toby Huss should still voice Khan the guy doing the voice just doesn’t nail the lines. Connie is dialed back down from that weird open relationship bullshit and now she’s just kinda boring, feels like how a white writer would dream an Asian Girlfriend would be like instead of well being a sitcom character, I really felt like Bobby’s plots this season were kinda aimless they have a lot to work with having restaurant. The reality show plotline just didn’t really amount to anything, just a waste of time.

Other than that thought it was amusing that Keith David’s character is AWOL this season, they put him into the intro of the show and he didn’t even appear once. This better be the final time Nancy is a whore and cheats on Dale with John Redcorn, they hinted she was fucking John in the reboot and now she’s supposed to give it up because of some guilt.

Edit: My favorite line from the season is when Hank describes Connie & Bobby getting to second base as “amorous congress.” And I love how Peggy weirdly pronounced “Saudi Arabia.”

Ok just watched the full season and holy shit, it was BAD.
All of the jokes were either just characters saying buzzwords or jokes you already seen on other FOX primetime cartoons, the animation is still shit as the other season that came out last year
i think on the last episode sometimes the characters would go into their default poses lmao (yk like the promotional clipart fox still uses for the old show)

before ill just leave it to here since if i listed all of my grievances with the reboot i would be here all day (like how bland and gray the backgrounds are now or how annoying the relationship shit with connie and bobby was)

bonus: heres a clip of a pretty funny animation error(?) from the last episode
(could they not bother with adding in between frames on the last few frames??????)

When you guys and some /co/ anons described the chicken episode as a "troon chicken episode" and said it was awful, I was braced for the worst. I was sure that the hen changing to a rooster was gonna make Boomhauer's girlfriend's son troon out or something. It's just a mid episode. I think the weakest of the season, but not at all as bad as I was expecting.

If I came in to just be critical I’d land pretty much on the same page as you. I think my favorite part of King of the Hill coming back is just being in the mood to watch Season 1-5 again and laughing. And speaking of animation I now notice all the little details I overlooked for years now! Look at how damn good the animation was just for this scene of Luanne drinking a beer and jumping for joy.
I only disagree with you saying it’s comparable to run of the mill Fox Animation. Simpsons has been unwatchable since the 2000s, Seth McFarlane cartoons are in a whole different genre. I still like the characters, I still have an emotional attachment to them.

Edit: I’m watching “Death and Texas”, the Whack-A-Mole scene is so good. Love Bobby being so blissfully unaware while Hank & Peggy sob.

Yeah the chicken episode was my least favorite as well. I did think it was funny for the payoff that the Pooner Chicken was utterly btfo’d in the rooster crowing contest (typing this out made me giggle with how absurd it is).

I'll say the revival seasons are better than the latter seasons of the original show's run thus far just for the sheer fact there's an attempt to develop the characters to have them adjust to getting older rather than just remain stagnant and one-note (like the could have made and episode about Hank complaining about gay beer) and the plots don't seem as mindnumbingly repetitive. Voice changes are expected because its Hollywood being lame and gay but Hardwick's voice was already gone when he recorded first few episodes of the revival before his death so I can forgive that. There's no toping the peak seasons of the series for sure but its nice to watch a revival where you can tell the creators actually still do care about their work.

I've only watched the first few episodes of the new season. I don't find it funny, like the joke feel like their timing are off by a few seconds some times, but it is defiantly relatable. I'm still not sure if that makes it good or not.

I had the same complaint about season 14 but I don't care for the designs of the background or side characters.

They're weirdly overly detailed compared to the main cast which makes them look really out of place.

They look more like Beavis and Butthead revival characters than KOTH characters.

I watched a couple of the episodes from the new season this morning. They are okay. I think they are a tiny bit better than the episodes from the revival last year. The animation however looks like it took yet another step back and looks somehow worse.

I don't think I am going to finish watching the new season. I don't care about watching things that already I know aren't going to be that good in quality.

Yeah the art and animation are my biggest pet peeves about the revival. KOTH had a very simple but well design visual identity and was one of the last western shows that was hand drawn even when flash and tweening became the norm so seeing the revival fully do away with its previous identity is jarring and makes it look really cheap.

The new Beavis and Butthead also uses tweening but it also has really good art with sharp outlines to compensate not sure why they didn't just find a better alternative like that.

Keep in mind, people, “Season 15” is really the back half of season 14 delayed by a year to fit the current streaming standard episode count.

Everyone who thought 14 was weak due to too much re-establishing characters, that’s because that was the groundwork for the rest of the revival run and not intended as a standalone season, just setting up the rest of the first season of the new run.

After reading through the thread and discussing it some with my younger son who has seen the new seasons, I have decided to leave well enough alone.
