Fallout series

There's a mod that lets you skip all that and get right to the escape. Unfortunately its been so long since I installed TTW I have no idea what it was called.
I couldn't find it myself. It might also be outdated now. (:_(
There's a decent amount of TTW mods but most people hate Fallout 3 enough to not be interested in it so support is not always guaranteed unfortunately.

I still recommend True Open World DC though because it removes arguably the worst part of Fallout 3.

Eh, if you can skip the vault itself the rest is pretty neat. Its fun running around the wastelands with just a 10mm pistol, a vault suit, a few spare mags, and your wits. Especially if you use any mods that buffs the Raiders like Armored Wastelands that buffs their armor or Another Millennia that distributes a lot more guns to them. Super-Duper Mart is real high-risk, somewhat high reward.

I mean if you enjoy
>Go to location
>"Have you seen my dad?"
>"Why yes I have but you have to do something for me first before I'll tell you!"
>Rinse and repeat like 4 times

Then sure. You do you.

Replace dad with water chip and that's fallout 1
And New Vegas as well.
"Hey, have you seen the guy who shot me in the head?"
"Yeah, I did for sure, but I'll only tell you after you help me with a problem here."

Manny is probably the single biggest example there of being a dick who can't just go "Yeah, that asshole headed to Boulder City." He's got no reason to protect him, and when you mention that you've got a score to settle he even mentions that a guy like him has a bunch of enemies. And after you help him out he says that Benny hadn't paid off his friends in the Khans, so its not like he himself is all that fond of the guy.

Yeah but the mystery of "Where is dad?" is infinitely less interesting than the platinum chip. And then he dies like 5 minutes after you find him anyway.
And then there's the annoying aspect of there clearly being a split in the Enclave between Colonel Autumn and President Eden but you can't really act on it in a meaningful way which is also kind of retarded. The main quest in 3 is pretty dogshit in how linear it is.
In 3 the biggest skip or change you can make that I remember is finding dad earlier than you're supposed to but even then the rest of the quest is still on rails.

That was imo the biggest issue with 3 was the lack of choice compared to Vegas where you decide who lives, who dies, who rules the Mojave ect. You can even just rush right to Vegas to try and kill Benny immediately if you know how. Tbf you can also do the same thing in 3 like I said with going straight to Vault 112 to grab Dad early but that's kind of where the fun ends. Sure you can obey Eden and put the FEV in the water but it doesn't really do much. I always thought that was retarded too unlike Vegas in 3 you can actually keep playing after the main quest and yet poisoning the water doesn't seem to do shit that changes much.

And then in FO2 its "Get GECK to save dying village" and then when you get back to the village the Enclave has kidnapped everyone and made your whole journey completely pointless.

Refresh the thread and read my post again please. 👍
I was not expecting such an immediate response. My apologies. Was trying to not double post.

Well, as far as I'm concerned the worst part of the FO3 main quest is that it just isn't there. The other games, even FO4, have your initial purpose only be the midway point of the game, with circumstances changing and you needing to step up and do more. FO1 has you get ordered to take down the Super Mutants after you bring back the chip and both locations have their own chains, FO2 has you head to San Fran so you can get the oil tanker running, New Vegas and FO4 have you do quests for which ever faction you pick before the big showdown, but FO3 has pretty much nothing after the Enclave show up. You have your big dramatic escape from them, then Vault 87 where you're captured, and then when you escape from Raven Rock you immediately hit the endgame with zero leadup.

I will do that only if she forces Obsidian to make Starfield New Vegas while Todd has to watch

This but with Todd and Obsidian.

cool bethesdas going to run some textures through an AI upscaler and charge $100 for new vegas running on the same engine with bare minimal bug fixes (maybe)

i wonder how the people who actually made it feel after getting cucked by bethesda over a single metacritic point and will probably not be getting paid for this one
They'll remake it in unreal 5 using Obsidians skill with UE5 gained from avowed.

Its gonna be dogshit.

the main quest is like that, the other quests in FO3 ain't, for as much as retarded it can be, the superhero ones was pretty good.

Luckily True Open World DC doesn't alter side content, it only disables the main quest like I said and occasionally changing one or two lines of dialogue to remove references to you specifically being a vault dweller. As I said, it only disables arguably the worst part of Fallout 3. You can still access story relevant locations just the method has been changed since the main quest is gone.

Bethesda should have made Broken Steel free for everyone and properly integrated it into the main game.

Don't forget the original ending if you had Fawkes as a companion. Fawkes could get the GECK for you in the irradiated room in a previous mission but once at the Memorial he refuses to step in the chamber because it's the player's destiny.

Not only would Fawkes refuse (despite being immune to radiation), but Sergeant RL-3 would also refuse (despite being a robot who is also immune to radiation), as would Charon (probably the most egregious as, being a ghoul, he is not only immune to radiation but actually healed by it).

It would have been less ridiculous if they just didn't give you the option at all, the fact that they did means they KNEW players would try to do the reasonable thing and went "No, no, no!" :story:

That is part of what a main quest is designed to do. Go to various locations around the map trying to find some person or item, all while the game builds up to a great fight with an antagonist.

Fallout 1 hints at the growing super mutant menace. Fallout 2 reveals the machinations of the Enclave all throughout the settlements. Fallout 3 leaves clues that you were born outside of the Vault and the power of the Enclave. Fallout New Vegas shows the player the various factions you will eventually side with. Fallout 4 does a bait-and-switch about your son’s age along with the Commonwealth’s fear of the Institute vs the Father’s benevolent presentation of it.

I never understand why FO3 doesn't have open world post-main quest until the DLC.

I mean, Bethsoft created TES, and starting with Daggerfall there's open world post-main quest.

What was the fucking point then? Making more with Broken Steel?
