Kat is also the perfect target, as she checks several boxes. She was already a low IQ loser with no real prospects when she met Phil. She became overweight, likely has a legitimate health issue, and Id wager experiencing symptoms of depression (I know I’d be if I decided to shack up with The Guy). Not only does this make her more susceptible to gaslighting and emotional manipulation, it’s also easier for her to dismiss things like vacation as too difficult or a general inconvenience.

I don’t have much of an opinion about how I feel about Kat as a person, as I don’t think there’s enough public info to say who she really is at the core. So I hesitate to say she outright deserves the life she’s in at this point. Maybe she is a piece of shit, idk. But it would be sad to have known her before she met Phil as a friend of hers and check in to see what her life’s become.

I don't think Dave and Kat share their location for instance since he has spoken multiple times about when she's 'late home from work' that he doesn't know what held her up but he doesn't care enough to call or text her and she'll get there eventually, implying he couldn't just check to see where she is stuck in traffic. Also Kat doesn't have any social media she shut all that shit down the instant she got to Renton for Dave control purposes

Cambian's channel is relatively small, so Phil just views Steve as beneath him. If a similar situation happened with KC, there's no question Phil would play this angle, get fake emotional saying how hard things used to be and demonize them.

Another point in favor of her being in a special needs program is how she not only gets health insurance (which can easily cost the employer 4 figures / year) but only paid about $25 /month (at least she did in 2020). Even if it's less than the Obamacare minimum coverage the price is just too low.

She doesn't really want to go and never did: I've dealt with trailer trash like Kat, and the second you ask simple questions about their dream vacation (what do you want to do over there, what about the language gap, why aren't you even trying to save up for it) you get blank stares at best or excuses at worst. Japan is an escapist fantasy for her, any real progress is anathema to that even if Phil takes care of the finances + logistics.

In that sense they're a codependent fit for each other, cons + FGC play the same role in his world that Japan does in hers. They really do deserve each other.

In the same boat - there's a part of me that feels bad for Khat and what she had to endure as a kid, BUT she's also an adult and she chose NOT to get her issues handled through professional help. Again, that was her choice. Even the courts tried to intervene and she went "Fine, I'll do it myself." and admitted herself voluntarily. What I do think is that Khat did what any person would do in her situation would do: there's a door to a better life? I'm going to take it, not realizing she was being mislead by "The Twitch guy".

Like I mentioned before, Khat has some MAJOR emotional and mental issues that only YEARS of therapy can fix and Khat had NO business dealing with Subaru man or "The Twitch guy", but again, it goes back to the being an adult and making that choice of doing better or staying the same. That's her right as an adult to make that choice.

Phil went back to the bag of tricks that worked for Leanna. Also, Leanna was having home issues when she was in Allentown and she wanted out of PA. Any woman around Phil's age at that time knew that Phil was a loser and a weirdo and wouldn't give him the time or day, but a 17 year old? Yeah! Flash a bit of money, your own place, and the promise of a ticket out of their situation they hate? Where do they sign up? Not realizing it was all a fugazi. However, Phil learned from Panda: fatten her up, gaslight her broken mind, and hold all the cards to where she has NOWHERE else to go by isolating her from her support system and if she wants to work, it has to be some menial job to where she can't support herself all the way financially. Khat was just another woman that was looking for a way out of Michigan and if some trick wanted to fly her out, make all of her dreams come true of going to Japan, etc...why not? Not realizing it was all smoke and mirrors.

Again, that was her choice. It's also her choice to stay with Phil.

Yeah I think Phil is actually the abused or at least henpecked party in the relationship. I'm sure the alcoholism and low testosterone have played a part in turning him from horndog, dick-stroking Phil into the asexual-style PrudeSydePhil we all know and hate today, but his compulsive freakouts any time he encounters a sexy female in a game are consistent with him being terrified of upsetting Khat. And he sounded almost scared when he was being chastised for drunk-dialing Wingo at 3 am. Frankly, he should be scared. I've said it before, but Phil can never really control Kat because she has a built in golden parachute if anything ever goes to shit: the enormous fuckload of money that Keemstar would pay her to do an exclusive tell-all interview about Phil. She has the power to completely destroy Phil by handing his biggest enemies material that would eternally felt him. A Khaterview would be something Phil would never escape or live down for the rest of his life. And they both know it.
