Your points are all valid. At the end of the day, I don't know the answer. It's much easier to argue for a general cover-up with Epstein than it is to argue that Trump is protecting himself specifically. There's no way, in my mind, that Trump schtupping underage girls with Jeffrey Epstein, and evidence of it in Epstein's e-mails, stays a secret for almost 10 years; not with how many people hate Trump inside and outside of government.

I don't know. Part of me wonders if the Epstein Files got mega-hyped up by multiple people (including Trump) only for it to be a nothingburger relative to public expectation. I would have preferred a more interesting release than what we got, but I simply do not believe that Trump is implicated in the files. Either the Biden administration would have put that out front and center between 2020 and 2024, someone in the FBI/CIA who hates Trump (there are plenty) would have leaked it, or someone in Congress would have gotten their hands on this and leaked it.
Believing that Trump is in those files and it's somehow kept a secret, despite the number of powerful people who fucking hate Trump, attributes way too much talent to Trump and his supporters in government. The only way I'd believe that story is if it was somehow classified within the Department of Energy.

As I already said, some of the redactions are to prevent people from doing Control-F, seaching Lurker, and then going "HOLY SHIT, LURKER IS IN THE EPSTEIN FILES!" There are names of people in there who came up but were not involved in anything illegal, or were victims. You keep their names out so they aren't forced to defend themselves from spurious claims made by muckrakers. I'm not saying that's the reason for all the redactions, but it's definitely a reason that rarely gets mentioned by critics of Trump.
