there's this one essayist i really enjoy hearing from who lived for a good part of his child - early adult life in section 8 housing and talks a small but nonetheless fair amount about it. he mostly talks about how poverty "forced" his hand into helping people finish cooking crack / similar drugs so he could make a fair amount of money to live off of, but he also talks about stuff like how everyone else in his housing was either black or puerto rican, and how they had really shit houses. despite having and making crack in his house, a single white guy was the only one who kept his place genuinely clean (at least in his own accounting) compared to the niggers with families.
while i think section 8 housing is an instant aggro zone, driving past any confirms more or less; it looks like bando houses, and the only sign they're not bandos is the cars / dogs / miniature nigger kids who stand around halfway hiding and looking nervous. windows smashed, curtains sooty or otherwise covered in some vague black ashy bullshit, no lights inside... genuinely they've turned new builds into near-bandos within 2 years or less. i'm certain every single person there also has a gun or some sort of weapon on them 24/7.
the thing i'm mostly curious about is why everyone who lives there acts.. like that. you know what i mean. they're always jumpy. you walk anywhere near their section 8 housing and suddenly they're all staring at you and, within a few seconds, will begin to kettle you while keeping their hands by their belts. you need to know one of the niggers or their beloved just-as-broke wyitebois to not instantly get mugged and/or jumped. do they act like that because they're all at an equal amount of risk from the other weapon-toting niggers? is it a genuine dog-eat-dog zone there? i've never heard any shit like this from normal poverty kids, they talk about drugs and sex but never about worrying that their neighbors are going to shoot their windows out or steal all their stuff overnight.
