interesting to note though that big brother US only had 3 deaths in it's 25 year run so far compared to fishtank's 3 in 4~ years. Hells kitchen has 8 (to be fair, cooks tend to live harder lifestyles/do more extreme shit), Survivor has about 17 in 26 years, The Bachelor/Bachelorette has about 10, etc.
I’m not going to act like I was a huge Ellie fan, but she was one of the worst candidates for suicide, if not the worst, that I can think of amongst Fishtank alumni. Pretty girl with her whole life ahead of her. Had support to do whatever she wanted and wasn’t too fucked up to make it happen. RIP honestly pretty depressing.
I just remember how pissed Sam looked the first time he interviewed Ellie and found out she was only 18 and still in high school. He tried to hide it because he wasn't mad at her, but he was positively livid. I thought he was going to have a roid-induced heart attack on the spot.
I also remember watching Joe Winko die of sodium nitrate poisoning, and I'm horrified. It was not an easy death; he had plenty of time to regret it before he actually died.

Yes, if fishtank wants to become not fishtank it needs to do that. The production being retarded is a large part of why people watch the show called fishtank. If that goes away you will get what ice made which is a knockoff version of big brother with whores.
That whole situation is fucked up and I'm genuinely sad to hear this news.
I find it hard to believe that being on the show itself did much harm to her. Her involvement with Jet and reading /bant/ are where the issues started. Jet telling her "actually, college good" was just an easier way to get her to go away to make room for more girls to pester.
People who go on Fishtank as a contestant already have poor judgement and/or are desperate. Ellie being as young as she was just made her more vulnerable when the show ended.
The combination of SSRI's, fucked up childhood, getting Nepsteind and browsing /bant/ (in that order) is what did it. From her sister's posting it sounded like Ellie was already on shaky ground, but I think the Zoloft is what ultimately pushed things over the edge.
No matter how many times I hear about someone so young deciding to end it all, it still makes me feel sad and upset. May God rest her soul and help her family find peace.

When I saw her suicide method, Winko's last stream was the first thing I thought of. Poor girl. Honestly, if fucking Sanctioned Suicide (a forum for suicidal people to discuss suicide and suicide methods) hadn't propped it up as "the best and most painless method" I doubt we'd be sitting here talking about her suicide right now. From what I saw of Joe Winko's stream it certainly didn't seem so painless to me.
