Now compare that to the typical story of white couples. Even the unidealized version is you get with a high school sweet heart or someone you met in college, one or both of you has a job you go to, the house is kept up by everyone cleaning up after themselves with only the children too small to do so not pitching in, the husband is expected to be a gentlemen and dote on his wife and children rather than being a petty tyrant, etc.
