As much as LED lights can be an issue, this legislation seems to be the latest feelgood measure coming out of California that accomplishes nothing meaningful. As others have stated, I don't trust legislators to pass something well-intended that doesn't contain something with unintended consequences or ends up being more onerous.
In a lot of blue or purple areas, police on patrol are being discouraged from writing tickets for anything that's not absolutely egregious - especially when it comes to minority drivers because "race-based policing" is the big anti-police buzz phrase right now. Someone I know who is an officer had someone recently ask what it's like to do street/traffic patrols. The TL; DR answer was it sucks because of how ticketing certain drivers or offenses is discouraged to the point it hamstrings officers ability to deal with legitimately bad drivers.
As much as a boomer I know can't stand Trump or RFK Jr., they do like the latter's effort to eliminate the artificial colors banned elsewhere around the world and they were surprised at how many recommended or required vaccines exist for kids to be given at young ages. Sure, vaccines are important - especially when people from other countries try to enter and bring their third-world germs and diseases with them - but one can't help wondering if too many vaccinations given to young children all in succession ends up causing more harm than good later in life. Sadly, most people raising this question are quickly dismissed as anti-vaxxers when that might not necessarily be true.
I debated going back to college in the past, but seeing how much higher tuition and fees run along with mandatory DEI requirements made me nope out immediately.
