Undertale / Deltarune / Toby Fox Discussion

One could extremely easily map this out on UD\DR.

Yes, but not in the same magnitude as it used to be. And definitely less globally - less and less communities are affected by Undertale.
The nigger who hates everything is speaking.
It's time to listen.

I have a feeling that the Twisted Sword won't be craftable in Chapter 6. I might be overestimating Toby a bit by thinking that Kris will throw away the Thorn Ring in Chapter 6, thus preventing us from crafting the weapon.
Instead, I think that the Pure Crystal will be retroactive as the Shadow Crystals are retroactive. You beat one boss (e.g. Jevil) and you start a fresh Chapter 2 save file and grab the Shadow Crystal in that hole in Castle Town.

The Pure Crystal should be a fusion of the 5 crystals that we did get, therefore I believe it could be retroactive as well, after all, we did get one of the components.
So the Twisted Sword might be craftable in Chapter 2 instead. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that every single item that can be crafted is craftable the moment the recipe is available, with the sole exception of the Twisted Sword.

Or maybe I am looking too deep into this and it will really just be that straightforward. It would really make me think that Kris is an absolute retard if he doesn't do that.

In Chapter 6 you'll get to Castle Town and Seam is nowhere to be found. Some random NPCs have some vague lines about him disappearing that don't really tell you anything. In Seam's place is Mew Mew's shop, she just talks about how sad she is about the flowers. Seam and the Shadow Crystals aren't mentioned for the rest of the chapter. There is no secret boss in Chapter 6.

Right but I don't think you've considered that in all likelyhood, Toby Fox is an autist, and may be genuinely too retarded to conceive of being underhanded and petty.
The problem with autistic people is less that they can't conceive it and more that it's either too subtle or not subtle enough.

Yes, but that's going from chapter 1 > 2, not 6 > 2
While that is true, the Pure Crystal is the combination of all 5 of the Shadow Crystals. Or at least, it is heavily implied to be the product of their fusion. So it could be special in that it follows you through save files retroactively. The Shadow Crystals follow a similar logic, even if you completely delete the save file, you still keep the Shadow Crystal in that save file.
I personally believe that the Sword Route minigame is meant to show off how to get the Twisted Sword. There is no reason for you to obtain the Shadow Crystals in the Weird Route, nor can you even obtain all of them as the Chapter 5 Shadow Crystal is completely unobtainable unless you abort the Weird Route. Eram tells you that you are after the Shadow Crystals for some reason.

Besides, I do not see any way to obtain the Thorn Ring and keep it in Chapter 6.
If you abort in Chapter 2, Kris could just throw it away. Like I said, it would be extremely retarded of him not to do that as he's seen what you did to Noelle and could reasonably assume that you were merely biding your time to put it on her.
If you abort in Chapter 4, you do not get to keep the Thorn Ring in your inventory.
If you abort in Chapter 5, would Noelle really let you take the Thorn Ring off of her? That is assuming she would even join the party to begin with.

It's the only conclusion that makes sense to me regarding the Pure Crystal unless it will have other uses that we do not know about. It would also explain the third round of the Sword Route minigame to me given how there are 7 flower enemies in the section after you kill Susie and Ralsei. Especially since Chapter 5 explicitly said that the flowers won't come back. So unless the Twisted Sword is not intended to be used for murder, which I find very hard to believe given its components as well as the name of the weapon... I do not see how you can obtain it in Chapter 6 and have it narratively make sense if the Mantle minigame is supposed to tell you what you need to do when you obtain the Twisted Sword.

You can't save troonslop from being troonslop. The main audience is 'cord and reddit users anyway.
I'm pretty sure the main reason people ITT are shitting on chapter 5 is because they got cucked out of their favorite ship, otherwise they'd be eating it up like they did with ch 3 and 4.
Chapter 5 Susie is a skinwalker that murdered and replaced Chapter 4 Susie.
Susie and Ralsei are different characters every chapter.
Or, somehow, recover the momentum lost in chapter 5 and manage to reach a satisfying conclusion. Doesn't matter if you have to beat the game multiple times, like in Undertale, to reach the finale.
Even if Toby managed to pull off a satisfying conclusion, Deltarune has already set itself in stone as a very mediocre fandom videogame not worth 20+ bucks. Tell me what you would miss out on if you watched a silent playthrough on Youtube instead of playing it.
Fixed it.

In Chapter 7 there will be a post-credits scene hinting at the Knight's identity

I saw somebody with a similar idea. At some point you'll be able to share items across saves or get the items retroactively and go back to craft the sword in Ch 2 or 3. That seems like a bit much, though, I'd be disappointed if it's just a cheat weapon and doesn't affect the story at all since weapons are functionally useless for 99% of the game.
If you abort in Chapter 5, would Noelle really let you take the Thorn Ring off of her?
No, but things should get really fucked in general in 5 if she realizes everything she'd been through so far was real. The takes I've heard is you'd have to abort weird as soon as CH2 to actually keep the thorn ring.

Gameplay is actually pretty fun. Fights and Acts and gimmicks are pretty entertaining. It isn't one of those games where the actual gameplay itself is just a chore to slog through in my opinion.

Chapter 7 ends with no answers at all. Tricky Tony reveals that there's actually three more chapters to go. We all kill ourselves.

No no no, you don't get, toby said chapter 5 is supposed to be one last fun adventure before the storm!

Undertale was backloaded too!

Deltafags are so detestable genuinely. Like I said above its good that people are waking up and pointing out how ass this chapter is, but the asslickers in the comments are insufferable, they all have the same script. "Toby said this is one last fun adventure". "Undertale was also backloaded"

They don't seem to realize that "Its supposed to be dogshit!" is not an excuse for it being dogshit. And the comparisons to undertale? This isn't media illiteracy this is media retardation. A 4 hour game with like 1 and a half mysteries vs a 50 hour game with 500 mysteries do not follow the same pacing rules, nevermind that undertale wasn't even a mystery story.

It's ridiculously easy and braindead outside of the secret bosses, it feels like it's giving the illusion of a video game most of the time. The parkour part in chapter 5 where they hold your hand after you fail twice is insulting, and they try to disguise it as character development which is hilarious.

It honestly makes me question why it was like that. Was it just for a bit? Was it because Toby thought it was too hard for the average player? Or was it a plot point? Where the game is pointing out how easy it's making itself.
I got rather annoyed I lost the chance to do it myself after fumbling the first time.

If you abort in Chapter 2, Kris could just throw it away. Like I said, it would be extremely retarded of him not to do that as he's seen what you did to Noelle and could reasonably assume that you were merely biding your time to put it on her.
You don't even get the chance to thornring Noelle in chapter 4 if you keep it in 2. Kris hasn't thrown it away so far, so there's no reason to assume he suddenly would.

But on the subject of the Knight, the idea that the Knight isn't anyone and is just a titan that gained a mind would probably be the lamest possible explanation Toby could go with.
I really doubt it since it seems to be so connected to Kris, but then again, the Cheshire cat we've all waited for appear to be just a bunch of attack dogs!

I still keep thinking about chapter 5 and how it was so packed with references that it exceeded the point where it became hacky. Yes there’s always been references but many of these were so blatant and out of place that it’s just demanding the audience laugh because they know reference too. Here’s some that I can think of off the top of my head:
I caught a bunch of spongebob jokes with "is mayo an instrument" and "rev up those friers" being referenced.

I have a feeling that the Twisted Sword won't be craftable in Chapter 6. I might be overestimating Toby a bit by thinking that Kris will throw away the Thorn Ring in Chapter 6, thus preventing us from crafting the weapon.
I'm thinking it'll be chapter 7, or Toby will be like "this was a mistake!" and patch it out of all chapters. I dunno about the retroactive thing. I think Toby will run into a problem with the story branching too much and requiring too much development for the outcomes if he gives it too early with what it is supposed to do. I think it'll just be used to kill the big bad of the weird route (Gaster?)

Honestly Chapter 5 would be fine if it
>wasn't in your face yuri slop
>wasn't in your face yaoi slop
>allowed for an option for susie and ralsei to NOT help you just because you fell only fucking twice
and if Chapter 6 released right after so we weren't left with nonstop vagueposting.
It's honestly weird how quick QA must've pussied out on things (if there even was any) because there were some pretty challenging miniboss fights before that platforming room. I think if there was any, they pussied out on the main story platforming.

With the "one last fun adventure" thing Toby signaled so hard, I really thought the end of Chapter 5 would have some major upset of the status quo, some sort of "things will never be the same" moment. Parts of the Knights plan being revealed, some kind of lore dump about Dess, something. Hell, he could've had Asgore die or get maimed fighting the Knight. It would only take like 5 minutes at the end of the chapter to justify the "last fun adventure" thing, yet it would probably do wonders for this chapter's reception.

I have very little faith in this being the case, but it would be incredibly comical if Chapter 6 barely acknowledged anything that happened in 5 and just continued on where 4 left off, as if 5 was actually just a filler chapter so Toby could get his lackeys in order by giving them a whole chapter to turn the game into fagslop before resuming. None of the Flowers are coming back so there won't be any interactions within Castle Town, there's not many enemies in the Flower King dark world that'd make sense to return besides like... Terakota, Shi and Pink? (Also what the fuck is the deal with Shinobeetle? Isn't that a Darkner of a living thing too? Maybe Asgore's one of those people who collects insect shells in glass or has entomology posters or something)

An entire chapter getting the So Sorry treatment has the potential to be the most hilarious outcome lmao

Remember the Susie block puzzle in Chapter 3, board 2 where she Swaps her controller with Kris's to have him solve the puzzle instead? That one let you solve the intended way or gave you an extra block if you were struggling / took long enough. And y'know... it didn't force an easier setting on you once it became available.

What happened to this game, man...
