Around 10 minutes he mentions the trailers being bad in comparison to how the scenes play out in the movie. Jahns is generally consistent in his opinions on movies, and broadly I probably agree with him on a lot of films so there is a strong possibility I will like this more than hate it. Or I'll come out of the theatre feeling like I saw a completely different movie than he did and that it blows. Qué Será, Será.

Jeremy says Luptia is only in the movie for like 8 minutes so, in the event I end up mostly liking this, my Chinese AI will be saved from extensive processing time.

I'm curious of the opinions on the movie of people who have posted in this thread more than YouTube reviewers and rotten tomatoes critics though.

The thing is, this is actually my worst case scenario. Not that the film is shit, but that it is shit which is sufficiently polished that people eat it anyway. If they're going to bastardise our culture, force Progressive agendas down our throats, etc. I'd rather they do it badly. Than people say "I like the cyclops," and eat it up.

Alan Ng is probably going to shit on it for wokeness, we'll see. Gore maybe. Jahns seems more taken in by raw quality. It'll probably sweep the Oscars if Jahns is accurate, and he usually is.

Also, we've been overwoked so much that 8 minutes of black helen and elen page total out of almost 3 hours I don't think will be much of a big 'progressive' push, but we'll see. I think Nolan was mostly trolling on the marketing. And we'll see the BO results on if that worked out soon.

Oh and of course Stuckmann if anyone cares, the worst of the worst.


Oddly enough this is one of the first time in 3+ years that even Stuckmann has talked about the movie itself and seems invested. Interesting.

Looks like I'll see it in theater, but not 70mm most likely cause it's all sold the hell out, but at a top level digital probably..

Going next Wednesday, will report after.

Blackwashing a 3000 year old figure is a big progressive push regardless of screentime. Its not the screentime, its that they did it at all. Its like shooting someone in the head point blank with a shotgun 1 time vs 10. It doesn't mater past the first.

Overall yeah it's stupid and nasty. If the movie is ok I gotta look past that though. It's frustrating as hell he did that though.

I went to see Dunkirk on an IMAX screen. It was crowded and we ended up sitting in one of the lower front rows and the experience was absolutely miserable. We had to keep our heads tilted back at an uncomfortable angle, and even then, it was very difficult to take in the whole shot. Probably my worst theatrical experience that didn't involve a theater full of young urban blacks.
 
In a way it being boring and bland is worse than a total disaster. It makes it forgettable, like so many culture war slop movies of the last 12 or so years like Ghostbusters and Captain Marvel. People will forget all about the movie and the controversy will be the most memorable thing about it.

This isn't even a good subversion even though real subversion now is doing things like we did 30 years ago, and Helen getting her face scarred takes on a whole different meaning becaus she's a nigger, not because she's beautiful. Entirely intentional woke subterfuge. Nolan should be drawn and quartered for this cinematic disaser.
 
The problem is that many people don't understand how to rate a movie based on whether is an adaptation or not. It doesn't matter the acting or the costumes or the CGI. Leaving out the things that makes the story what it is makes it a terrible adaptation and that makes the story bad. You cannot leave the gods outside a story like this because their existence is the point.

It worked well in Troy I think. Many complained about the lack of overt involvement gods, but I think it was an interesting move to keep it ambiguous.

But the Oddysey does have a lot more fantastical elements I agree, and there's not much left of the story's appeal if you remove them.

Elliot Page is laughable but she's playing a character who isn't Achilles so it's almost something you can put behind you once it's over. (Not me, I find trans shit offensive as hell.) But Helen is the face that launched a thousand ships, a woman so beautiful nations went to war over her, and faggot Nolan made her an old black woman just for lulz. Fuck him and fuck this movie forever because of that. I don't care if he's autistic or that's just the cost of doing business these days, he's an asshole who deliberately made a subversive take on one of humanity's greatest stories just so he can win some shitty awards from an organization that's run by blacks now.

He's also such a hack. The Dark Knight Rises is just a reskinned The world Is Not Enough, and you just know he watched Fassbender's Macbeth (where the main character has PTSD and all the shit he sees urging him to kill is just in his head) and immediately wrote the idea down in his faggy little Australian notebook. But since we live in CURRENT YEAR now we're going to see think pieces galore on what a visionary he is for dealing with Muh Trauma in such a nuanced way, and how original it was to leave the gods out and make yet another meandering three-hour movie where everyone stares into the distance for minutes at a time pontificating.

Seriously, stay home and watch Wrath of the Titans instead of seeing this gay shit in IMAX. It's more fun and is half the runtime:
