Gigantic wall of text incoming
Pre war cars were built to an insanely high quality standard, even the model T and a Fords were made of vanadium tool steel that was extremely rust resistant and they were common daily drivers for poor people as recently as the 1960s.
Not the Model T. The Model A and the 1930s Fords, GMs and Chryslers, yes.
The model T was obsolete by the early 1920s tbh.
Got invited to go golfing recently. I don't own a golf shirt or shorts for the occasion as I don't golf often, so I wore a polo and khakis instead. Halfway through the game I'm setting up for my swing, and this geriatric old boomer drives in front of my shot. He hops out and starts telling me in the most reddit-janny demeanor possible that I have to go get proper golf attire, that the front desk wouldn't let me out on the field if they saw me (they just took my credit card a couple hours ago), and how its disrespectful to the game how I was dressed. I can't even describe how this guy looked, all I could see was a giant forced smile with furrowed brows, almost like one of those sharty/4chan caricatures. I asked who he was because he didn't even introduce himself, and he said in reply "I'm the field marshal, you gotta to listen to what I say." He then proceeded to follow my group for the next three holes, my group left early as a result so I guess mission accomplished. The course isn't even a nice country club, its a city course with a $50 fee and greens without grass. As a warning to my fellow kiwis; do not enter the boomer nexus (golf course).
Lmao he's a rules obsessed golfer
I’m going to give the boomers credit on this one since their music not only had the highest concentration of evergreen acts, but also will probably be the last time pop music reaches “classical” status. As soon as Gen X took over music quality nosedived.
Agreed. Rap exploded once Gen X took over.
It, like most non-book media at the time, was less disposable than today. If you wanted to hear music you liked you either had to catch it on the radio or go through the rigmarole of putting a record on. But Millennials also bought into vinyl which is why it became a fad for music that didn't exist concurrent with the medium.
As far as why it's music from their youth, most people's music taste is informed before they're fourteen. It helps that there was a definite higher average quality in music from 1969-1974 where all these musicians had to drive to experiment with conventions of the medium and the record labels were happy to front the money because they'd get their cut regardless. These weren't obscure groups either, they were making mainstream money. This isn't something that happens anymore; the best you can hope for is an enthusiast wanting to emulate genre conventions at the time, but usually that results in something too derivative or too anchored to how it is received on social media.
If there's an issue with the way boomers interact with their music in current year, it's that they only ever can remember the 100 (more like 50) or so songs that gets played on whatever local affiliate IHeartRadio bought out.
tl;dr Boomers had good music, but Guns 'N' Roses ain't it.
Agreed although Axle Rose is a damn legend
That movie was a pure boomer power fantasy, him standing up to the pack of negroes as the wigger is getting nigged on, pointing a gun at a gang banger. The ethnic group he began to associate with being a tolerable group, I would say it would be unrealistic if they were jeets but knowing boomers he may have found their culture captivating.
The clear and open contempt and hatred of his children and grandchildren is also an insightful look into how boomers view their own young, written to be downright caricatures of scumbags.
That's why he had a gun. Also, in the movie, his kids and grandkids wanted nothing to do with him and were more concerned about his dead wife's jewelry and his access to sports tickets. They were also literally better off then he was....
His character even menieks he was a cold SOB to his children as he didn't know any better.
The movie was really about a dying old man trying to do one decent thing in his last few months on Earth.
Every time I'm seeing a specialist. To get my health checked out because of a history of certain things in my family. There's always 4 boomers there. Regardless of any time of day. Do these people just live at the doctor's office?
Yes because it's essentially free for them (well you are paying for Medicare but it'll never bankrupt you) and they need something to do to get out of the house.
That and as you get older shit just hurts more and more goes wrong.
but the "late" boomers born post-1960 seem to be healthier on average compared to early boomers at their age, and will probably live a lot longer.
1950s boomers can go either way.
Correct. My parents and their siblings are early to mid 1960s Boomers (Boomers ended in 1964) and they're better off than the ones who are even a decade older.
The irony here is a lot of Boomers and Silent Gens believe whatever they see on the TV. Not necessarily the person you're describing, but I'm thinking the "I know everything about everything" stereotype comes from teenagers thinking TV is real life, meanwhile the other groups mentioned here have this apply to them as well.
Yep. Blame 3 national channels and Walter Kronkite for that
If you really want to feel sick, ask a boomer about dating. They'll shrug and tell you that they just kind of fell into relationships without any effort. Compare that to today where if you aren't putting in constant effort to meet people irl while sifting through dating apps that your dating pool will be nigh nonexistent (and it's still shat up by single moms, blacks, chatbot, and BPD wackos). Boomers existed in privileged social bubbles where the worst of the worst would be excluded by mere social pressure. Now the worst of the worst dedicate the most time to ruining things for everyone else.
My parents are still wondering why my oldest sister has literally never been on a date despite being late 30's now. They have this magical thinking approach to thinking some man with a six figure income (no, do not laugh too hard at the delusion that most men in their 30's make six figs) will just randomly pick her up without her putting any effort to meet men
Lol my Mom literally targeted my Dad at work
So this old bitch decided to spray a child with a garden hose for playing outside near her house. Then decides to ACT like a child by faking a faint episode to avoid consequences. All those cameras posted at her house for what, just to stalk children frolicking about at the comfort of her musty basement.
Ewww. I remember my Dad calling the nasty old neighbor lady a "gigantic fucking bitch" when she'd steal our basketballs and the like that went over the fence and she'd pop them.
Got some OC for the thread today.
Background: my father in law gets payed over 100k due to his senority at his company. Yet despite this, he is always out of money and pesters my wife (who makes less than half of what he does) for bailouts. He also pesters his other children and his ex-wife, despite making more money than all of them (maybe combined).
In the one text, he is threatening to bring his girlfriend around the ex wife's house because my wife wont pay him the money he wants. Threatening to remove her from the inheritance (and thereby depriving his only grandchildren of an inheritence) over this money (a couple hundred bucks)
In reality, he is a retard who will probably get manipulated by a girlfriend into losing all his money, and his daughter/grandchildren will get jack shit. Extremely common boomer antics.

(Not pictured) he also quotes scripture about honoring your father and mother, of course forgetting the commandment for fathers to not exasperate their children
Awful. He's a money grubbing sack of shit and he'll 100% get robbed by this girlfriend.
He grew up in a high class family but sought out the attention of the local degenerates, now in his 60s he's rediscovered weed
Even WORSE
You just gave me a horrifying vision of what half the suburban zoomers I grew up with will be like in 40 years.
Yep. Fat weed addicted old people
The only guy I actually like was this psychotic guy who owns a massive. Laser printing business and as a billionaire and has a fully automatic weapon in every single room. He was cool. But he also prints signs for everyone on both sides of the political spectrum.
He was happy with what we built for him and. Tipped us in very expensive whiskey and cigars and also asked everyone if they wanted to go to IS. Indoor basement shooting range and fire off a bunch of automatic ak.
That boomer was pretty cool, actually.
I was also in the doctor's office. Getting a few things checked out that my doctor wanted to. Deal with. And the amount of boomers who were in the same doctor's office every single week is astonishing. I swear that these people clog up every single specialist with every little ache and Boo Boo.
Lol some Boomers are amusing and nice.
They go to the Dr almost for fun and because their costs are limited.
This was touched on briefly earlier in the thread.
But what is the future of all the retards, vegetables, and mutants that Boomers brought into the world because they decided to not have kids until they turnt 45?
I know a Boomer/Gen X Cusp woman who didn’t have a kid until she was 43, and the daughter is legit a baby trapped inside a 20 year old body. Can’t walk, can’t talk, can’t even control her movements. Just scream, yell, poop her pants, and cry. The neurological disease is so strong that FENTANYL DOESNT EVEN SUPPRESS HER. She had a messy divorce with her husband a few years back (he beat her and left her, and before you ask they are reasonably well to do).
She absolutely refuses to get or hire trusted caretakers, and likes to parade her daughter around as “a little miracle”. She legit gets off on being seen as a “super mom.” My parents and I bring up when she is going to go nuts and snap because I don’t understand how she can keep going on with this.
20 years when the mom is gone or too infirm to take care of the vegetable child, what happens next?
Shoddy Nursing home only for the now 40 year old vegetable to get abused and tortured to death?
Buried in a paupers grave and forgotten about?
Are we going to have mass scale boomer retard spawn graveyards?
Yes. Women stupidly waiting till they're almost 50 to have a kid results on lots of speed/potato children.
I was grilling recently. Boomer relative talked about her silent gen mom, who had a health situation recently but somewhat recovered. The silent gen mom likes to go to church, exercise with her old lady exercise group, riding her bike and taking walks. When she's at home she loves to tend her garden, read books and the bible, and thinks about the things she read, while sitting in her garden. She also likes to cook and bake for guests and dotes on them. Seems swell to me, right? No, says the boomer. The present boomers all think this is very troubling, because the silent gen mom doesn't like to watch tv or listen to the radio, they think that's super weird and really bad for her. They think it's bad for you not to watch tv.
That's because they literally grew up glued to the TV. Silent Gen didn't.
I'll note that my Greatest/silent Gen grandfather (born..... 1923/24) loved watching HBO and oddly enough.... MTV later in life although that was in between walks where he'd enjoy his pipe and reading the newspaper and the like. He also worked until he was ~72 IIRC.
What is trivial pocket change to an adult in their 50's is the world to someone in their early 20's. A mere $10k is enough to cover first month's rent, relocation costs, and house hunting expenses when starting their first job. $30k straight up pays off a newish car.
With the grandchildren first strategy to inheritances, it intentionally leaves out the children who failed to produce any grandchildren. Thereby, the long term interests of the family line are preserved instead of wasted on those already past the age of change.
This. I think my Mom wants to do this
Absolutely correct that a relatively small amount of a young person is a huge boost. Clearing all debt from a 22-25 year old is HUGE.

That's the largest bumper sticker I've seen yet.
Lol and it's kinda BASED ngl
The least important part of University are the classes. Undergrad Research, CO-OPs, Student Projects, Student Groups, etc matter far more.
I am a tech manager as an example. I don't care about the classes, I care about what cool shit you did In University.
This. People forget that yes even in 2026, some University work is actually useful.
Since we're talking about television, I remember when I was a kid, sometime before my time, having cable television in your room was desired. The millennials and boomers were hooked on TV. Now, only thing that is keeping TV relevant are the boomers. Good luck trying to have them understand SMART TV remotes.
Lol they LOVE cable
But I think college in 80 years will resemble what college used to be 80 years ago: just something for the very rich and very intelligent
Correct or the fee jobs that REQUIRE a difficult professional certification aka law, accounting, engineering and the like.
Somewhat off-topic, but I genuinely want every masters degree to be eliminated. They are the bane of the academic world and the gateway to the US job market for infinite third worlders.
They're useful for switching careers.
latin america does not have any succesful countries or a powerful MIC like the US does, at best israel will get some soviet-era AKs and fucking SCUDs if they're lucky
Lol Israeli ultra nationalistals think they can ally with India and Russia and replace the USA.... Lol
In reality, those gangs can knock Clint Eastwood flat on his ass, boomer power fantasies be damned.
Again, he was armed
The used car market being destroyed wasn't because of the boomers, it was Obama's Cash for Clunkers debacle.
Nope.... Every SINGLE car C4C got off the road was replaced in 18 months
Covid and greed from 2021 onwards ruined the US used car market
Ah yes, the dumbest federal program in history. It's not like people really needed these old cars that we're affordable and could be fixed with simpler parts or taking parts from other cars and putting them all together. And since this was during the late 2000s, this was made by Boomers in government, so yes, Boomers technically ruined the used car market.
Lol no. The average car C4C destroyed were POS Mopar SUvs and minivans from the mid 1990s.
Boomers don't have a good concept of the resale market and operate based on sensationalist gambles. I know a boomer that didn't understand that old tech doesn't mean it's inherently collectible
Correct. Pawn Stars and Storage Wars RUINED them
Because saying "They are willing to work for peanuts" is not as socially palatable, which is the true reason behind them conveniently looking the other way. That, and its alternative version "They are willing to work the jobs Americans don't want to work" (Because I'm only willing to pay peanuts). I wouldn't be surprised if Boomers were the largest employers of illegals.
They really are. Lawn people, maids, and the like. All illegals.
it was obviously both. what other generation (except for millennials they deserve their own thread) would take things for granted enough to have these cars executed:
1 1987 Buick GNX
1 1992 GMC Typhoon
1 1997 Bentley Continental R
1 1985 Maserati Quattroporte
1 1985 TVR 280i Convertible
52 Cadillac Allantes
107 Ford Taurus SHOs
381 Nissan 300ZXs
4 Fourth Generation Toyota Supras
123 Subaru SVXs
917 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors
97 Corvettes
3 BMW 740il Protections
6 Porsche 928s including 2 S4s
2 1993 Mercedes Benz 500SECs
1 1987 Duntov GT
1 1999 Mercedes C43 AMG
1 1992 BMW 850i
1 1991 BMW M5
1 1991 BMW M3
1 1997 Aston Martin DB7 Volante
If you wanna read the whole thing and weep, oh how you should weep, it's here:

The VAST majority of C4C card were absolute pieces of shit that, even if on the road today, would be 30+ years old
They are via farming.
Plenty of countries cut all farms subsidies and transition to very efficient and technologically advanced farms that do not rely on trucks of cheap laborers doing rotations. Highly efficient farms that produce far more yields for far less resources.
Ehhh people bleat about fruits and vegetable harvesting but those can be automated.
Grains and legumes are already extremely mechanized.
Between the advancements in machinery and fertilizers you can run a massive farm with just a handful of full time employees. People really don't understand how far farming has come in the last 100 years. You even have combine harvesters that drive themselves using GPS. Boomers will instead hire illegals and then complain about their farm going under because he can't compete.
Correct.
We had leather seats in our 2004 Hondas. Leather is just an overpriced markup.
Nah most cloth is mid.
On the subject of leather car seats, do you figure most boomers can tell the difference between faux leather (plastic) and authentic leather (cow)?
Are car dealerships required to disclose if a seat is authentic leather
No and you look to see if the seat material has a brand name. MbTex, Evotex, and similar are all plastic
And of course, unlike a corporate job, your body will wear out a million times faster. Boomers are so horrifically out of touch when it comes to wages, the cost of living, and other such things, it is to the point of delusion. I seriously wonder how some of these kids survive if they don't have a good relationship with some decently wealthy parents.
Yep. Most tradespeople literally can't do the work anymore by their late 50s.
Boomers can't conceptualize 20-40 year skf inflation. They literally think everything costs about that it did 20-30 years ago.
I don't know why but this website has a lot of overly smug tradies that will screech about "muh laptop class"
I wager it's mostly younger guys and when their bodies finally explode they'll fight tooth and nail for one of those "fake jewish daycare email jobs" they once decried
Agreed, office jobs can be done literally until death
Food, housing, clothes, transportation etc is all considerably worse now
Not exactly. Food, you have far more options, same with housing. We've gotten rid of heavy metals and other horrible nasty shit form building materials since the 1970s.
Clothes, you can buy cheap Asian trash or buy nicer. Again, options. The cheap stuff now is cheaper than it's ever been.
Transportation..... Cars today are almost comically better than they were even 25 years ago. Far safer, quieter and more efficient. For all the bitching people yammer on about when they complain about new vehicles being HARD TO FIX, what they mean is that you have to understand WTF a fuel injector and turbocharger is or you have to be strict about maintenance. That's it.
