If he does go the houseflipper route, he's in for a rude awakening. Alberta housing is actually falling right now, both in the cities and outside of it. A lot of house flippers have much of their incompetence covered by taking too long and the home 'naturally' appreciating, but here Ian's gonna have to beat the clock and significantly improve the value of the property just to break even. And this is unlikely to change anytime soon, especially if/when the secession vote rolls around.
