UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
Now that doesn't mean the full story is actually justified, but there's something afoot.
Oh yeah, it's pretty simple. The chagos occupy a strategic position in the Indian Ocean. Whoever controls them has a base just about equidistant from all the coasts surrounding the ocean, from which they can dominate just about all the majority trade routes to Africa, India, and Europe. We're giving the islands to a Chinese vassal state. It's blatantly obvious that this is a long-term scheme to hand strategic control of half the planet to china, and just as obvious that the Chinese have compromised the British state and all the major parties at every level.

Genuinely, besides out right giving them the islands, what do they want? A Hong Kong style transfer? I could see Andy giving them back, he seems like the type to do it.
As long as Britain is struggling militarily, Argentina is going to keep longing for the Falklands.

Argentina: British Falkland Islanders are ‘artificial’

A few facts for the general audience that many, and especially Americans, seem unaware of and which are good to keep in mind for this topic:
  1. The Falkland Islands are not off the coast of Argentina. They are 330 miles (530km) away from Argentina. It's so far away that the very curvature of the Earth will hide it from you. It is like saying that Paris should be English or that Kiev is in Russia.
  2. The British settled the Falkland Islands before Argentina was even a country.
  3. There was no native population on the islands nor signs of any in living memory. An ancient canoe was found once which was probably some lost soul washed out to see.
  4. The Argentinians claiming the islands are the descendents of Spanish colonists who did massacre native populations as they settled populated lands.
  5. Las Malvinas is not the original name of the islands. It just comes from the French name for the islands where they briefly held a military base. The attempt to rename the islands from Falkland Islands is just a cultural move to try and establish legitimacy. Like renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America or Kiev to Kyev.
  6. There is a fundamental right to determination and the people of the Falkland Islands are overwhelmingly want to be part of the United Kingdom.

I say "especially Americans" because more than once have I run into American Progressive/Leftist types who seem firmly under the impression that the Falkland Islands are just off the coast of Argentina, were taken from Argentinians by wicked English people who seized it from native peoples. When confronted with the above facts, such Americans have ime, tried to default to "well it's closer to Argentina than Britain" which is a spectacularly dumb argument and you can say so. "If I establish a country next to yours, can I take the bits of your country that are nearest to me?" If they are a Progressive / Leftist type (which if they are anti-colonialist 'give it back to Argentina types' they usually are), then you can happily use the establishment of Israel as an example for them to make their heads explode. A new country is established, in a region long ago settled by other people, and attempts to claim bits nearest to it are its now.

I am wholly in favour of going to war to defend the Falkland Islands if Argentina invades again.

In Orwell's 1984, the globe was split into three great powers. Thus could the common man be kept subjugated by always having an external enemy. Just an observation.

Also, the longer they don't release information about Ann Widecome's killer, the more certain I am it was a political killing.

Ah, but the one thing the police have said is that it totally definitely wasn't a polital killing and they're 100% sure of that. And they were also 100% sure of that before they were even sure whether or not it was a murder. And when they did figure out it was a murder they were still 100% sure it wasn't a political killing before they even knew what the suspect looked like or had any information about the suspect!

So you see, when the police are that sure it's not a political killing I don't know how you can have any doubts.

Reminds me of when Macron declared they knew for certain that the burning of Notre Dame wasn't arson, even whilst the flames were still raging. There'd been a wave of church arson attacks across France, a mysterious person never identified was photographed on the scaffolding and the fire seemed to have blaze up incredibly quickly as if an accelerant had been used. But as the firefighters struggled to contain it we were being confidently told they knew it wasn't arson.

By the same president who later declared the fire was an opportunity to replace the stained glass windows with something more "diverse".

Yeah, I'm certain somebody from Rotherham travelled all the way to Devon, by himself, sought out that one particular house, murdered her, at random. I also note there have been no mentions of anything stolen from her home. If it were a burglary, you'd think the first thing the police would be saying is that they'd recovered items that were stolen or that things had been.

Unfortunately we can't, because the Royal Navy, which was instrumental in the Falklands conflict, was pretty much being sold for scrap even by the late 80s
Also, the longer they don't release information about Ann Widecome's killer, the more certain I am it was a political killing.
I mean, I was certain it was a political killing right from the beginning

Why has America stayed neutral on the Falkland Islands? Are we not suppose to super-duper close allies, special relationship? Never made sense to me.

Our Royal Navy might make past admirals die again in their graves, but Argentina is in absolutely piss poor shape with their navy, air force and army. The only thing they can do is virtue signal and put our these diplomatic jabs at us and it might actually work with our cuck of a government full of human rights lawyers.

There is a fundamental right to determination and the people of the Falkland Islands are overwhelmingly want to be part of the United Kingdom.
If some wanker tells me the Argies (who are so right-wing, your average Brit could not comprehend it) own the Falklands, I ask if they think big countries have the right to the smaller islands next to them, or agree and say yes I think governments should militarily invade smaller nations and islands and claim their land for themselves despite the will of the people, nothing problematic about that belief in the big 2026 :)

The Widdecombe attacker being a pro Pally would explain the rumours that Starmer did not send a message to Polanski about MP safety/his condolences. Palestine-ism attracts severely mentally unwell people as well.

There were a few things I couldn't post last night while the site was down but Scottish police have removed another migrant sex attacker and his family from another scheme. I expect protests to continue.

As long as Britain is struggling militarily, Argentina is going to keep longing for the Falklands.
We could make our military stronger than the entirety of NATO combined and the Argies would still be bitching and whining about the time they ate shit invading one of the only places in the world where the average citizen is a penguin. The moral injury led them to adopting izzat as a national philosophy. They’ll never get over it.

He said that the 1982 war and the 2013 vote had failed to resolve the Falklands dispute, and added that sovereignty of the archipelago should not be decided by a “population artificially implanted by the occupying power”.
I'm fairly the sure war was as permanent a resolution as you can get. Especially now, despite the severe deterioration of the British military, the Argentines are far worse off than they were in the 1980s. The Falklands also has greatly improved the local military organisation and equipment, so any actual invasion attempt will encounter a well equipped militia ready for a prolonged hit-and-run campaign.
I reckon there's something we're not being told. Keir told Kemi at PMQs a while back that she knew what was happening and shouldn't play silly buggers; Andy's just announced he's doing it despite it being an obviously unpopular policy. The only reason we paused is Trump has dementia and turned on a dime. This was originally a Conservative party policy. I guarantee we are not being told the full story for this to still be going on.
The fact that it's almost universally supported by everyone in Parliament and universally hated outside of it shows there is something afoot. Britain appears to be second only to Canada in infiltration by Chinese intelligence and they are the only ones who stand to gain from this.

You could hand wave it away with Keir being the arch-lawyer who wants to out international law the other lawyers, but it smacks of the Fabianism and treachery the political class has become so enamored with in the past century.

The 2019 ruling they all spout as justification was filled with BRICS/anti-Western countries. You had a Somali, Chinese, Indian, Russian, Brazilian, Moroccan, Sierra Leonean, South African, Ugandan, Slovakian, French and Australian cohort who ruled against British, versus an American dissenting opinion.

Both China and Russia have been trying to get rid of British/American control of Diego Garcia for decades, with the recent and previous year's bombings against Iran showing how useful it is. Without it, those stealth bombers that hit Iran would have had major issues - just like any stealth bombers attacking China or Russia would without it. The rest of the countries outside France/Slovakia/Australia (I blame white guilt) are all BRICS members or close to Russia/China.

Look at the economic recovery of Argentina.
I’d happily share the oil rights for a dose of that.
Please post your beano hands, Argie. That oil is ours, the Island is ours.

There was a recent story about how there was most likely a Chinese spy camera within one of the offices of Whitehall, I'm sure the bosses knew but didn't care, just like the Mega-Embassy, It's really no wonder how our government/media are becoming more and more restrictive like China. All traditional parties are in the pool of Chinese money, look at all the MPs with Chinese wives or husbands, the recent Labour MP/Councillors with links to spying for China.

Now we're most likely going to see cheap, explosive Chinese EV's on our roads just waiting to crash into a pile of people.

The only thing I will give China, or more the people, is that they are racist as fuck.

I am genuinely wondering what is left for the Chinese to even spy on? In fact, I'm convinced the British government is stealing secrets from China to create a better authoritarian surveillance state.

The City, because being able to manipulate the stock market in one of the largest exchanges on the planet would give them a significant advantage. Why else do you think they're building their gigantic embassy right on top of a major communications trunk? But aside from that, what China seeks now is to have the world acknowledge its status as the middle kingdom, and to acquire vassal states to further its geopolitical aims. They belt-and-roaded big chunks of Africa to create resource extraction colonies, but that sort of basic infrastructure bribe doesn't work here because we're already an industrialised (lol) western nation. Instead, they've infiltrated the bureaucracy and leadership, to bribe or blackmail people directly, in order to have us relinquish sovereignty over strategic overseas territories. If we hand the Chagos islands to Mauritius, they'll be in Chinese hands within a decade.
