I'm genuinely shocked they're this generous. I can't see them continuing it for the PS6 though, not with the switch to all-digital essentially forcing the matter (no other way to get a game onto the damned thing except through the PS6 storefront, which I'm sure won't take PS5 discs for obvious reasons). I will be seriously impressed if, when someone connects their PS6 to an existing PSN account that had PS5 physical games registered, they auto-upgrade/auto-grant the PS6 versions of things if available. Weren't they "accidentally" deleting all records of physical games from PSN accounts recently too? Did they ever publicly address that or is it still just something people noticed and Sony's been silent about it?

Why wait? The "games" they sell are just glorified plastic cards with game codes inside them, they can just take away your Nintendo Account or ban you or whatever and everything you own is gone this generation.

Ten seconds of googling will tell you that not every physical copy of a game on Switch 2 is a key card (with the ones that are being explicitly labeled as such too). Now wonder they basically got away with it when the people complaining are literal mouth breathers who assumed the worst even when enough time shows that said assumption was wrong.

All these cards will be useless when Switch 3 comes out and the e-shop inevitably shuts down, Nintendo isn't going to keep the servers up for people to redeem their plastic code cards because they have never done that and never will, you must genuinely be the only person here who doesn't see that(or how this has anything to do with Soyny and PlayStation 6).

I kinda wouldn't be supprised if that does end up happening, given how much of a success the Switch 2 has already been and just how far away a third iteration will undoubtedly be, especially when there's so many ways that it could end up like that within the 5 years minimum that it takes for it to come out.
I wouldn't be surprised but Sony, or rather their Playstation branch hasn't been Japanese in over a decade. It's been based in California this whole time which explains a lot really.
