It used to be "this is a mentally sick man who wants to look like a woman to relief his dysphoria". Now it’s "this a woman, she just looks like a man".
I can agree with the first one but the second one requires too much mental gymnastics and blind obedience for a pseudoscientific trend.
The claims by John (Brianna) Wu and related non thinkers, to the tune of trans people have always existed and the related beliefs that prior to Victorian times people just decided whether to present as a man or a woman as a routine normal thing bothers me.
Obviously it’s a curious approach to revisionist history, but it’s totally fucking illogical too.
Surely if being a man was optional in societies which treated women awfully, basically no one would be a woman?
Ellen here is a prime living example of why that idea is fundamentally stupid.
Men for most of history have in the main been expected to be physically powerful.
Granted there have always been exceptions, if you can’t be strong, be smart.
However, a pooner like Ellen trying to behave like a man even 100 years ago would have been laughed at, at best, then
probably been pressured to lift something any average man could, but few women can.
At worst, but more likely, been subject to violence.
Not out of disgust or modern claims of prejudices, just out of being expected to come up to a male minimum standard.
The irony is that she has been successful in a career path that favors women, for roles can characters that really suit her.
Why she thinks that she could ever be taken seriously as an action hero or a tough male, is just so delusional.
Even the women who make convincing action heroes tend to be taller and at least athletic and substantial.
Charlize Theron, one of her co stars in this very movie is an exact example!
Even intersex people are male or female, they have a disorder, not unknown 3rd gametes.
