Now, Elon Musk promised two underground systems of tunnels that would use high pressure to drive canister-shaped cars full of people at ~800 mph. One was to go from SF to LA and the other from NYC to DC, each taking about half an hour. He claimed, in a tweet, that he'd gotten approval for the NYC-DC route back in 2017, 9 years ago.

People doubted his tweet. Doubters of Musk tweets are stupid Luddites who don't believe in technology. So, where are the hyperloops? We should have two by now.

The Las Vegas tunnel isn't a hyperloop. There are no pressurized canisters going 800 mph, only cars driving at 35 mph.

Did Elon Musk deliver 800 mph underground pressurized canister travel, or not?

Musk initially teased the idea of a "fifth mode of transport" in July 2012, but the specific design parameters, including the target speed of 760 mph (often cited as 800 mph), were published in the "Hyperloop Alpha" paper on August 22, 2013 (announced/released online August 12)
