Path of Exile

Yeah the grounded story is what made D2 so compelling too and Blizzard, for its many faults, knew which well to go back to for D4. The POE2 story seems to be heading to a finale where we kill the beast which brings Divinity back, and Sin uses the "shards of the Gods" to empower a new pantheon of Una, Asala, the Maori guy, probably Gwennen, less likely Doryani and ascend you as the new arbiter of divinity to take on the abyssals, and probably reveal you as the last descendant of the precursors or something similarly gay. Yippie, another child of destiny story that can't go anywhere because eventually we are going to have to take on Kulemak.

The Exile waking up on the beach and taking revenge on Dominus followed by epically fucking up by deciding to kill the Beast and having to clean up their mess was such a better plotline. I'm on the side of the Twilight Order, Divinity is bad for Wraeclast but muh Abyssals are the big bad now so it all has to revolve around them.
Have you ever seen the true face of God, Exile?

The entire point of the Corruption Seed is to trick people trying to quell Divinity into unleashing The Beast which eventually consumes all of reality and resets the universe it was designed specifically to breadcrumb Sin (and in alternate timelines others that would fit his place), two beings know this, the Hinekora (the good) and Kalandra (the bad).

Do you think Kalandra was the first divine?

the way they frame her she's something more primal than that, they almost talk about her like her viewing the world through the mirror lake creates the world, and she's seen like billions of iterations, also whatever she is is so insane that Wraeclast's version of the Mossad tried to free her, first investigated and understood her, and the findings were so shocking, so unknowable, they all burned everything, then killed themselves so no one could ever know and left just a warning to never try and free her whatsoever.
