So I will weigh in on this. I am an EMT/paramedic, and as I have said publicly before, I was an EMT in NYC for many years and have done multiple relief missions domestically and internationally before moving on to something new. We do not rush. When you are called for a heart attack, they will send ALS, or ALS will meet you on the way. You do not go lights and sirens through the streets like it is a movie, we still have to stop at lights (and inch forward if traffic allows), we don't do 80 in a 45. We do 45 in a 45. This isn't local protocol either; this is basically a national standard. But back to why you're histrionic, when ALS is called, they carry a heart monitor, we hook that up to the patient (or EMTs can, depending on local protocol), and then we (or med control, but for major cities like this, it's us) will interpret it. We then use some medications to stabilize the patient while we take them to the ER/specific specialized hospital (this depends on local protocol). If EMTs are rushing, especially during loading, stretchers can tip over. I have seen it happen many times. IVs get pulled. Basically, shit gets bad. If he were actually dead, aka a stiff corpse, we would NEVER carry the body in the truck. That is because we have so many calls and are so underfunded and understaffed all over the country; it is a waste of resources. We will leave the cops there and let them call the coroner. Also, if he were actually dead or dying, you would see people actively doing CPR and/or a LUCAS device strapped to him. I don't see it (and frankly I don't see shit). Heart attacks take time to recover from, especially at his age; he could be alive but very weak at the moment.
