DC Comics Multimedia General - A crisis of infinite fuck ups

I saw Super Girl, 5/10. Already forgotten about most of it.

Not sure who the movie was made for, having the villains be a pedo group was a really dumb move if they wanted the family market. And the flat out ugly grey look also wasn't a good move, it doesn't stand out visually anyway, which might have helped sell itself in the trailers if it did.

And with hard-core comic fans, it does nothing fresh. It is very much a run-of-the-mill comic book movie. If it came out in 2016, maybe people would be fine with that. But at this point, people are sick of the same old shit.
It was made for the modern audience.
Not fans.

This is something that I don't get about Gunn. He is friends with Michael Rosenbaum, the only person that consistently goes toe to toe with Clancy Brown as Best Lex Luthor. He personally praised him for being such a great Lex

But he went with a cartoony Lex that admits being jealous like a teenage girl. Even the actor he hired to play Lex is better suited for something serious, and threatening, but his Lex just isn't.

It's not bad just for Superman, but it also cheapens Lex as a villain.
Lex in the animated series, Smallville, and even the 90s Lois & Clark mogs the new one.

Having your villain be so pathetic that he breaks down crying (in his first appearance no less), seemingly openly has a gay crush on superman (im fine with this being a slight subtext thing but gunn lays it on so thick with his bad writing/amateur directing), and gets cucked by jimmy olsen just makes the entire thing an embarrassing waste of time.

"a hero is only as good as his villain" and this villain is as much of a whiny pathetic gay bitch as the "hero". Why do I care about a couple homos having a slap fight over an annoying dog?

Lex should be a chad, he'd be tony stark if superman didnt exist, he should be bedding supermodels, killing people, and listening to Tchaikovsky. Rosenbaum was good as a young version of Lex, he was charming, seemingly well-educated and cultured, but also increasingly obsessive and conniving.

Hoults Lex is just completely pathetic, seems like some kind of limp-wristed tard with a weak jawline. Not a threat at all.

seems like you could get some milage out of Bruce Wayne and Lex getting into rich guy drama
Coming this fall to HBO max (now on Tubi): Our famed Caped Crusader goes to Vegas, as his playboy billionaire philanthropist alter ego Bruce Wayne, for a charity poker tournament where he goes face to face with Lex Luthor, Vandal Savage, and Maxwell Lord. Meanwhile the scandalous trio plot to steal the The Jewel of Arkham that can power a machine that will uncover a mysterious island holding incredible power of the gods.

~edit
God damn dyslexia and Josh in my ear.

throw in Ollie too
but yeah really something of " DC rich guys being rich at each other" seems like you could get some milage out of it, not a Crisis level event but def a miniseries

Oh definitely. But Gunn isn't smart. If Gunn were smart he'd flood the media with so much content there'd be a DCU project coming out every 10 weeks.

well, it's a better idea than a fucking "jimmy olsen" or "amanda waller" series so you have my vote to run DC over james gunn (not that that is saying much)

nah

the real people laughing at these disasters did
Batman v Superman is an unforgivable crime against humanity, though.

Ok let me rephrase this, Zach Snyder's movies are disasters but they are endearing disasters. You want to see "Martha, why did you say that name?" or The illegitimate baby that Superman is proud to raise. While James Gunn is just some asshole who is obsessed with obscure characters and turning characters into assholes like him.

It’s an ego thing. After guardians Gunn has been more obsssed with proving he can make people care about Glup Shittos, than leading the DC brand.

I mean sure maybe someone competent can write a heart wrenching movie about Polka-Dot Man, but we are here for Superman, Batman, flash and all the well known heroes. That’s the whole point of following a franchise.

Martha, why did you say that name?
I always assumed that batman had no idea what powers superman had and was testing him with all those fancy things and even though superman could read his mind.

The illegitimate baby thing also works cause the alternative in Zacks mind is Lois dying when the baby decides to burrow out of her with its own laser eye beam made c-section.

See, I don't think the baby would start to develop powers till after birth.
Exposure to sunlight and all that.
