Semper fi brother, I did the same. I wasn't taking it anymore and told the nurse as much. When the doctor came in the nurse told him I was trying to get off Adderall and the doctor said "lol good luck." The nurse corrected herself and said "No he's actually already off of it" and he just gave me a look like I had 2 heads. Guess most people are one-shot by it, either for partying reasons or "OMG I feel like a functional human for once" reasons. Wasn't worth the every 3 month doctors visits for them to say "Yep you still have ADHD, we'll renew your script" since too many people WERE using it for party reasons and doctors aren't allowed to prescribe narcotics freely anymore.
I don't understand why crackheads have such a hard time getting off junkie speed. I guess that's the same as weed though, weak as fuck character flaws.

Did you get on them in school after a teacher whined? You guys notice public schools are basically marketing centers for drug companies now? i knew kids who were like 10 and being drugged up already. I remember saying it was horrifying in middle school and a teacher flipped out on me. it's scary how successful the decades long marketing campaign by big pharma was. i dont know why schools can just be drug pushers and then expel a kid for bring in a flintstones vitamin. America has an issue with hating children.

Adderall is an amphetamine, but unlike meth it doesn't cause insane dopamine drops in the same way so it isn't as addictive. A lot of it is brain chemistry though, I can start/stop nicotine pretty easily and don't go through anything I recognize as withdrawal symptoms. That and whatever the original reason for using the drug was, if you used it medically vs recreationally. I never felt like I had more energy, just a slightly sharper focus where it was a little easier to get on track if I got distracted with another task.
Apparently a teacher wanted me on drugs in 1st or 2nd grade because I didn't sit still for her to read a book to us. Listening to someone read (even audiobooks) has always been an issue for me, I read so quickly I'd rather just do it myself than wait for someone to slowly read it out lol. No, I got on Adderall because like so many other people, I thought "Maybe the problem is me?" rather than "Maybe the problem is my job expects too much" because my issues at work didn't really change with the medication. Moved positions and I'm a lot better off, and don't need copedrugs to try to "do better."
I never abused my prescription fwiw. I was on it for years. It was fucky for a few days, and then nothing. I'm a bit more scattered than I used to be, but nothing crazy. I just don't need it at this point in my life. I'm not ashamed of saying I did at one point, but I don't now. It's liberating being off the pills man.
Did they even have access to it? They didn’t have coffee, and I imagine only the wealthiest people could obtain tea if at all.
That had stims, like khat back then, but like coca leaves in the south americas they were put in tea at most, or just chewed and not really a big deal.
