Warhammer 40k

Cool, another book, last one was great. Just don't fuck it up.

I just started the Ultramarines Omnibus and there is an absolute Gigachad fighting Eldar Corsairs with what I assume is a lever action rifle and a horse

Gedrik emerged into the settlement’s square, stopping his horse violently. Two of the attackers’ craft hovered before the temple, the alien warriors dragging screaming townspeople towards them. Their faces were exquisitely cruel and pale: humanoid, yet wholly alien. Gedrik stood forward in the stirrups and aimed his rifle at one of the red armoured invaders, placing its angled helm squarely between his sights.
He squeezed the trigger, punching the warrior from its feet, sending blood jetting from its neck. The others scattered and Gedrik yelled out, hammering his spurs into his mount’s flanks. The horse leapt forwards and Gedrik fired twice more, pitching another two aliens to the ground before the rifle jammed.

I can't wait for these guys to full Statler and Waldorf on the Chaos guys whenever they aren't bitching at each other over one thing or another that's been unresolved for longer than the life cycles of entire suns.

Also if anyone wants some more glorious Necron action read Severed, if you haven't. Its a short story focused on Nemesor Zahndrekh told from Vargard Oberyn's perspective. and its equal parts hilarious, tearjerking, and bittersweet. After reading it I can't help but see Zahndrek as some 120+ year old British general who was born early on in the Victorian Era and in his old age has forgotten everything in his life except how to be a gentleman and an officer, still somehow keeping all of the experience and tactical genius he's picked up along the way, even if doesn't exactly know where he is at any given moment. He's completely lost half of his marbles, but somehow he's managed to make it work for him.

Not watching the tournament video. Why are Guard and Chaos Knights win rates so low?

And so many armies being "undefeated" makes me think it was a small pool. eg. How come there was no Tau vs Ultramarines, for example.

Guard is low specifically because the changes to cover, hidden and battleshock hurt them a lot.

Chaos and normal knights are struggling I think because of low model counts making scoring difficult for them especially against lists that can screen them effectively

Because it was 10 different tournaments over the weekend varying in size between 20 and 60 players that were 4 rounds or more. Honestly Auspex Tactics fucking sucks at covering it. This guy does it better(I'm pretty sure he's only counting 5+ round events).

Regardless, it's still a shit show because you're going to have people that are excited for 11th being their time to shine after they gave up 3 months into 10th, and haven't given up yet getting their asses kicked providing easy wins for people and messing with stats in general. Give it another people of months and people will bail out as they realize their win rates still suck after not playing for over 2 years, and instead of just getting games in regularly to improve, just sulk and quit again till 12th when they repeat the cycle.
