Correct. The "believe all women" party does not deserve the presumption of innocence. If any woman anywhere on the planet makes a spurious rape claim against a democrat, I will treat it as the gospel truth.

Realistically you should want him to drop out.

Any sucessive candidate will be injured by this. But the DNC will pour money to fight for the seat. If Platner stays they will pour money into other seats making them harder to win.

Also Collins gets her warchest from the neo con turtle pool. Best case is Dems go all in and lose amd Collins exhausts McConnells Pacs in the process.

It is not a criminal charge or conviction. The burden of proof in a civil suit is basically nothing, and men as rich as Trump are constantly dealing with bullshit allegations and lawsuits from scammers looking for a payday.

The more you argue, the more you show how profound your level of utter intellectual desolation really is.

Multiply it by at least 6 or 7. My least complicated natural delivery was in a smaller hospital, and it was $27,000. Thankfully, we didn't have to pay nearly that much due to good insurance.

I wonder if there was some sort of kickback scheme at play here though, or if they were billing Medicaid somehow. I can't see how even a shitty hospital could turn a profit with those prices. Definitely something for Texas' HHS to look into.

You realize what they charge your insurance isn't what you'd actually pay for cash price, right? Insurance prices are marked way up compared to out of pocket.

If you tell them you don't have insurance and want to pay cash they'll not only give you a way discounted rate, they'll also give you payment plans.
I use alternatives to insurance wherever possible for that reason. It ends up being way cheaper.

Ive seen hilarious examples of this where people show their insurance got charged $600 for some blood work and they were on the hook for $125 of it, meanwhile I know multiple websites they could have gotten the same work up for $90.

Last time I checked out of pocket cost for natural childbirth is around 7-12k with the negotiated out of pocket discount. Though it depends on the hospital of course, and there are ways to get it even cheaper like with healthshares (religious or not) where I've seen much lower than that.

Platner has named his price to step down. He gets to pick the sucessor. They havent bitten.

They can either offer him something else he would want (they havent), apply more stick (some other accusers have magically appeared already and more wont change the calculus because his fig leaf is this is politically motivated attacks), hope he will crack under current pressure, or give him what he wants.

This is basic politics. The Democratic party seems to have forgotten this.

They either need to show this leverage Collins apparently has, find a new attack angle, or they need to offer him a deal. The longer Platner waits the better deal he can demand up to the 13th. If he waits past the 13th its the same as if he quits, he has no political future after this and will have trouble with private employment too now.

I knew a guy once who wore his oldest shittiest clothes and didn't shower for a few days every time he needed to go to the doctor and they charged him like $20 down from $5000 because they thought he was homeless and couldn't squeeze his insurance or sent him to collections.

They literally tried to put him in prison over a bookkeeping error. The only reason he wasn't is because of different federal judges saying to wait until after the election before deciding to put him in prison.

A three to four day, high risk geriatric birth is only around $1700 as of 2024 with insurance including the epidural. Its the cost of about two ceramic crowns from a dentist with insurance. And if they need formula, the hostpital just gives you a week supply, which only costs about $30 if you buy it at the store and mix it yourself. A nine month old can go through about $30 of formula every four to seven days if the mom's milk doesn't come in sufficiently. Disposable diapers are cheap and the hospital will give a bunch of those as well. Hell, they'll even wipe your baby's ass and change the diaper for you until you leave. Babies are cheap.
