lol no, people are always hungry for more games, and games in franchises take increasingly longer to deliever next product.

the problem is quality, not quantity, the quantity issue is Team Size and Cost, games have too many people, and like you said, expect insane salaries, however, even if they all made sub 100k a year, some of these companies have well over 2k employee's all working on one game, for like 6-8 years, when it could be done with a couple hundred, likely in half the time.

the industry simply can't hold the weight of so many failure companies sucking up so much funding to produce games that sell in the low 10k's if not lower, when they cost over 200 million dollars, there's no quality control here, no one's allowed to say Nigger Faggots aren't going to sell.

I would imagine that starting a game company would be tough. Game dev salaries aren't cheap and like you said, it takes years to get them out. That's not going to be an easy thing to do

Anyway, re: games. Here's a post I just made in the Games Journalism thread

Gerstman on his last podcast basically kinda laid out the expectation: these coders are essentially creators and artists and they want big corporations to treat this as a patron/beneficiary type of relationship. They see themselves as the artist or musician who gets picked up by a rich benefactor to just idle their days away to create.

Issue is that patron/beneficiary relationships are 1:1 and there is obvious talent and output. Koenigswarter would not have footed Monk's lifestyle and bills if Monk wasn't putting out immortal classics and future Jazz standards.

These egotistical maniacs put themselves on that level while giving us garbage like Concord.
