Whelp, I'll take the L on the chat bug actually getting fixed, though I still think we'll get some content out of it from Phil being paranoid anytime his graveyard of a chat slows down, which should be pretty frequent.

In his hermit mind, they aren't wild claims because he really has nothing to compare them to. His idea of reality is entirely distorted by his isolation and incredibly limited socialization. It's why he thought he could make up such awful lies about his bills or taxes, because in his mind, these are unique things only he has to deal with and not something literally every other adult in the world also deals with. He's also convinced himself everyone believes his obvious lies because he's banned/will ban anyone who calls him out on it.

He's like a child who is on the verge of discovering the social version of object permanence for the first time. Except unlike a literal child, he hasn't managed to get there after 10+ years, and if anything, has actually become less aware as he's increasingly become more and more isolated.

As crazy as it sounds, I also think Phil doesn't understand Google (or basic fact checking in general). He's so reliant on handholding, he can't fathom the idea of someone looking up on of his claims, on the off chance they think it might actually sound plausible in the first place.

It's a little surprising that Youtube fixed it so quickly, but the fact that the bug existed and got weaponized against him is a big L for him, and it's not like Youtube is giving him a paycheck for reporting the bug, he's just back to what he was doing last month.

Multiple big streamers got hit by that bug as well as Phil, so YouTube had to fix it.

Making fun of some assholes you know can be a good way to let off some stream after a shitty day at work. The problem is, Phil and Kat are humorless, they don't relate to each other, and of course Phil doesn't care about any else's life but his. So I imagine they both bitch and moan about their days, neither would provide the other any support, and then they waddle off to their separate floors of the house.

Ya know. Sometimes I really wonder what's actually occuring when he's forced to confront the gap between reality and his mind.

For example, he'll beg and beg and beg all day about needing contributions because this is his job.

Great! I'll consneed that:
A) People need money.
B) People get money from performing a job.
C) Streaming, for all intents and purposes, is a job that can earn money.

I doubt anyone, including DSP, would argue against any of that. However, those very same statements begin to conflict with each other when you combine them, blinding Phil by striking directly at his cognitive dissonance.

Let's try this question:
- Phil, if people aren't giving you money to perform this job, doesn't that indicate people don't want you to perform this job?

Or this one:
- Phil, if your current job isn't making enough money to support you, why don't you consider a different job that would make enough money to support you? (Yeah. I know, I know. Purely theretical since he couldn't find another job if he wanted to.)

Where I'm trying to go is questions of that variety just don't happen in his head. For whatever reason, Phil perceives his natural, baseline state to be a video game streamer. Which makes sense in that he found temporary success doing that at a pivotal time in his life, but it's like his brain just hit pause and never considered any other reality. Where the constant begging and streaming 10+ times a week while playing video games you hate would be a horrible enough existence to provoke change for anyone else, that just doesn't happen for him.

He clearly loves being miserable, but it's like the idea that he doesn't have to be miserable never dawns on him because he just has to be a video game streamer for some reason. That's what I don't get because it makes no sense when he'll say things that lead to the logical conclusion of 'Maybe I should quit', but he never makes it there for whatever reason.

And for Phil, the comfort of never being accountable is absolutely worth the cost of being miserable. Being a victim is how he maintains his superior status, because he has never made a mistake PLUS it gives him an excuse (because he's so bitch made) to go on the attack and insult people. "I didn't start it, you attacked ME! REEEE!"

He is his own source of truth, he is his own God.

I don't think Phil assumes that he needs to be a video game streamer, I'm pretty sure he just thinks that he deserves to be a video game streamer.

Part of the reason he believes that is because it used to pay his bills with even less effort than it does now. But one major aspect I feel a lot of people overlook is that Phil doesn't really grasp the concept that internet content can be good or bad. He's fundamentally unfunny, incurious, and understands nothing about any of the games he plays. I doubt he watches any other streamers, and if he did, he wouldn't understand why anyone liked what they made.

BUT! Some of those streamers make hundreds of thousands a year, and Phil does the exact same thing they do! So why does he have a smaller audience and make less money than them?

Also, while his existence does look miserable to a normal person (who really wants to constantly beg 6 days a week?), consider just how little effort he has to put into it. He doesn't make his own thumbnails or his own stream visuals or his own gameplay. He doesn't edit his videos. Realistically, he just needs to clock in, read handholding for a couple hours, and clock out.

I have no doubt he gets a certain amount of satisfaction from begging, too! He doesn't want to do it, but he's forced to, because you guys aren't forthcoming! Think about just how good and wholesome Phil's content could be if his audience would just cooperate! Poor bastard.
 
I wanna stick Phil in a bunker with streaming equipment and all he needs to live. The chat will be fake/curated. He will be recorded by hidden cameras. Just as a test to see if he is able to feel emotions that normal humans feel when deprived from other people. Like loneliness and depression and if he can eventually go paranoid from the lack of human interaction. Wait i think that's already happening.

I'd been thinking this was likely for a while. Phil is a textbook addictive personality. He lost a little weight with the drugs and it gave him a rush. I've gone on at length before about Phil's cheater mentality, and it's a similar thing to Duper's Delight. He got or did something that normally takes effort without any actual work, and it makes him feel good. He can't help but hammer the absolute fuck out of every new "feel good" button he finds. Pokemon cards, WWE, cheesing people at fighting games. It's the Pigroach curse to always find another shortcut to success, but inevitably kill it by immediately trying to wring it out like a sponge.

The problem is that this time he found one that is causing severe damage his health. I've seen people use GLP-1 drugs for weight loss, and yes they have similar effects to what we're seeing with Phil, but his are pretty extreme. Taking enough to cause the amount of muscle and fat loss we are seeing is almost certainly causing a bunch of problems. It can fuck with your liver and your gastrointestinal tract. I'm starting to suspect that he is using some that is prescribed to Kat, or getting it in some shady way because any decent doctor who saw the changes he is going through would have cut him off or reduced his dose. I am both fascinated and horrified to be witness to a man who is literally shriveling up before our eyes.
