I had the benefit of being homeschooled, so I was never exposed to how dropping the bombs were being weaponized until going off to college.
The very first history class I had, just basic American History 101, the carpetbagger professor tried to lead the class into coming to the conclusion we nuked Japan because we were racist. No mention of the war was made. Thankfully more than a few people actually knew the context around bomb being dropped and gave him enough pushback he lost control of the class that time.
Our history teacher assigned us homework to imagine that we were alive during those days and write a letter to the president advocating for or against the atomic bomb's usage against Japan. We were not allowed to use future knowledge in our letters and would be docked points if we relied on information that would not have been available in early 1944.
The teacher was really cool, he had an assignment he'd do as a final test every semester where he'd make us memorize and give a speech from whatever era we were in, it'd be a specific portion of said speech but if we went above and beyond and memorized and presented the whole thing while dressed up as the person giving the speech he'd give us an automatic A on the map quiz we had to take.
If 80 percent of the class got an A on the assignment, he'd give everyone an A on the map quiz, and we'd have a pizza party/twilight zone marathon in class. That only happened twice in the whole year, from what I can remember.
If you fell asleep in the dudes' class, he'd either walk by your desk with a yardstick and whack it, or he'd bring a stack of 4 textbooks, those old ones that were harder than a tile floor, and drop them on your desk as loud as he could to wake you up. One of my other favorite memories of him was when we got to the Civil Rights movement; he gave everyone specific people to research and make a presentation about, and this one really stupid black chick got Martin Luther King. This girl walks up to the front of the room, confidently, opens her presentation, and begins it by saying, "Martin Luther King JR was known for being the King of England, and dying to free the slaves." Our teacher paused all the presentations for 20 minutes to take her outside and yell at her for her lack of research and stupidity.
The worst history teacher I had, though, were all in Highschool. One was a straight-up gay black communist, and the other was a woman who was a very obvious hippie. When we got to Vietnam in her class, she absolutely refused to teach why the war happened or how it happened, just that it was "bad" and that America deserved to lose. She got very upset because this was back in like 2011-2013 when Abortion and so on were fresh topics for people to talk about, and she'd make us debate all the time, and I'd always be in the opposition for topics like Gay Marriage, Abortion or Illegal Immigration since she knew I was a Conservative Christian.
Unfortunately for her, most of the people supporting those things in my class were black or illegal, and had the IQ of a fish.
