/r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

I saw some of your suggestions for designing divisions. While it’s nice, I am mainly concerned with single player builds since they’re much more fun than playing multiplayer. A lot of people say that anything can work for single player, but what do they mean exactly by anything.

(It’s Reddit I know but I’m fucking desperate)

This is something I used, maybe only, for single player divisions. I’ll add a line artillery and replace signal for field hospital, but other than that it’s okay. I would usually do doctrines that would improve on my artillery. I plan to use all heavy weapons support but I don’t wanna fuck up my organization.

Let me know if there’s something I can improve on or change for my single player.

(PS: What’s the meta now for TFR?)
Loose the line arty. line arty hasn't been viable due to the high ic cost and extremely low org for a long time now. Even on rangers and mountaineers people don't put line arty in them in multiplayer. That said you asked for receommendations for improvements, if you're playing single player you can do whatever you want apart from armored cars.

the AI is so dumb that with proper micro any remotely reasonable design and strategy should work.

There's also a complete disconnect between what your average hoi4 player perceives as effective and the actual 'optimal' strategies out there.

For exmaple in the new multiplayer meta cas is completely dead due to the new regimental support companies allowing to you to stack over 100 air attack on your divisions, but since the Ai never adapts to your build its not a concern in singleplayer.

I wouldn't mind sharing more about the current meta if you'd like but its singleplayer so do whatever you want.

TFR is like the only major mod alive that I haven't played yet so can't help you there. You can check out the templates used in the recent larp wars if you are autistic enough

Tell me more about the current single player meta. Show me an optimal yet lazy template and doctrine there is available (something that doesn’t require me to micro).

Well it depends on what mod you're playing, what country you're playing and whether you have to go early war or not.

As far as line infantry goes you want primarily 16 (some people advocate for 18 width) pure inf with field hospirtals, aa if your enemy has air superiority. Most people don't push with line inf but if you're going to push then adding support arty is a good idea.

For offensive infantry you want to mix marines with mountaineers where possible (replace mountaineers with rangers if you're fighting in the jungle mostly) You want 7 units of marines and fill the rest in with mountaineers since mountaineers have the hgihest stats and 7 units of marines is what you need to get the maximum river crossing bonus. go for 34/35 width and remember to place one line AT espeiclaly if your enemy will have tanks (but the ai doesn't build good tanks anyways so might be a moot point)
Line arty, light tank recon, medium flame tank support, pioneers and field hospitals are good. You could replace one of them with signal companies

Since you want a braindead build I'm not going to bother with pure marine/ amtrac/ pure mountaineer divisions.

With tanks there's an debate in the multiplayer community as to whether heavy tank destroyers, medium tanks or heavy spgs are best. I'm not gonna bore you with the details since hard attack hardly matters in sp anyways. Just go for 36/38 width and replace your motorized with mechanized with you get them. Logistic companies, medium flame tank suport and field hospitals are must haves.

For doctrines, it is generally agreed upon that grand battleplan and superior firepower are the best since the grand doctrine rework. If you're using grand battleplan remember to make battleplants ahead of time to max out your planning bonuses.

Tank builds generally want individual execellence, self propelled support, tank destroyer force/ armored spearhead and grand assault. In sp go for armored spearhead since tank destroyers are unecessary

inf builds generally want assautl inf, siege artillery/ field engineering (depends on if you're buildng super heavy arty) armored infantry support and either grand assault or desperate defence.

For regimental support heavy weapons company are great for defenensive line holding inf (your 16 widths) and for offensive infantry/ special forces you want motorized heavy weapons teams because it gives you more breakthrough

That's the gist

if you don't want to micro just spam 36 width inf and go with mass assault/ grand battleplan and keep churning out inf and grind down you enemy with your superior cost effective IC if you dont' want to micro. Works wonders for countries like Russia and China with a manpower advantage.

Any other build would require some amount of micro

Is it even going to be worth it? I used to be excited over TNO and leaks but now its all dreadfully boring. We're waiting a year maybe two just for imperial Nixon path that's just going to be boomer TDS despite the fact Nixon feels and acts like a democrat compared to Trump (of all thing Panzer was right to make him a liberal and call him a liberal Republican). At this point the only semi good thing TNO has is when Mango makes America do new war crimes.

Does it work for countries with less manpower?

I can't wait for the next update where they add that Americans boiled British babies in a pot of shit because FDR was on his period that day or whatever retarded shit they dream up next.

Why release a teaser for a teaser? If it isn't ready to drop just don't draw attention to it.

Is it even going to be worth it?
No, of course not. Their worst crime really is that they're incredibly boring and uninteresting. No one would care at all if it wasn't for the fact that they took over a mod with an existing fanbase and even among that crowd I think just about everyone has moved on with their lives, especially now that there are two fan forks out there so that the nostalgia crowd can get their fill that way and leave the main mod alone.

I honestly don’t know why pf still keeps kicking when all they do is faggy marches that no one cares about. If you actually care about the “movement” why not attempt to unite the dissident elements into a single vanguardist movement? Well we all know why they don’t do this, it’s because it’s a federal op and any attempt to consolidate the far right gets ruthlessly stamped out by the feds

Even then that’s some serious crunch for a fan made mod
It's serious crunch for what realistically is going to be screenshots of a couple events, country leaders, some gui bloat that doesn't do anything in game yet but can be passed off as functional because redditors can't see the code, and a few skeleton trees that don't have any effects implemented except for one or two focuses that get hovered over in the screenshots they're in to create the illusion the trees are done.
