I kept reading through the investigations reports about Chai that I mentioned, and that @Mn0tt provided PDFs of on the last page of this thread. Regarding his mom, Chai had this to say
The interrogators bring up Chai's mom for a bit, it's unclear about the context whether the police got this from Chai's siblings or the mom herself, or that Chai could have slipped up and said it, that his mother allegedly struck her dogs with their collars. Which Chai denies.
Here the interrogators bring up that when Chai was arrested, there was mandatory fingerprint taking, they usually undress them, photograph the body etc, because he's a minor, I don't think these are included in the PDFs, unless I missed them. But the interrogator claims that because of certain markings/scarring on Chai's back, that his mother has whipper him or similar. Again, they have talked to Chai's siblings and various people around him, so it's possible that's where it came up together with them seeing the scarring. Also in the picture, Chai says those are markings, like stretch marks, which to his credit is possible and not unusual, but the cops say that they don't look like that.
Chai throughout these interrogations claims that he not only doesn't remember most of it, because it was 3 years ago and he was 14/15, and also that he's changed his ways. Obviously he's lying, and the police eventually brings this message up of him in one of the group chats saying the same things, but it's 7-9 months ago, he claims he doesn't remember because it's that time frame.
