This is true, but that’s what Sony’s 3.6 billion dollar jap money was for. And they put it towards Trannython and golden parachutes for all the retards who are leaving.
Not just marathon but everything the higher ups wasted it on and the multiple other projects that got canned in favor of only marathon and edge of fate
$3.6 BIILLION AND THE DEATH OF DESTINY FOR THIS

I genuinely despise anyone who tries to shill marathon as "the only way to get more destiny". It's like when studios hold new entries in popular franchises hostage unless a remake/remaster of a mid entry sells a jizzillion copies but this time its promoted entirely by delusional fans who can't understand why people who like destiny don't wanna play a fucking extraction shooter

In reality, by supporting Marathon, all that we would actually be supporting is more money squandering by the executives :D

Literally just respond to any speds saying this with "Titanfall" and watch their brains short circuit.

The ONLY chance of Destiny having any future at this point is if Marathon completely collapses and Bungie/Sony come crawling back to it, though since Sony seems to be on a mission to destroy all good will they built up during PS4 right now it's probably more likely they just shut Bungie down and bury Destiny in their IP graveyard forever.

Ill be honest, Bungie should never make another game again, if someone makes Destiny 3, it should be like 2-3 people who gave a fuck from BUngie, and no one else from Bungie.

Which is such a sad, sad fucking reality. Since the MoT update, I’ve been playing the fuck out of D2 literally every single day and it’s so good. It’s in such a good state, that people are still playing, the numbers are really healthy. This could have been the game normally, and not EOS, if management, Sony, and that faggot Jason weren’t involved. If this is where it truly ends, then it’s a relatively good spot to end it, but god do I wish a competent studio had this franchise instead of these girlcock loving tards.

Be glad it ended on a good note at least. Destiny (touch wood) has been spared the corpse raping HALO has endured over the years. For now anyway.

I'd been checked out of destiny since lightfall in terms of actually playing the game regularly but since D1 was a yuge part of my teens and I was emotionally invested in the series, I played final shape and left the series at that, seemed like the whole light and dark saga was wrapped up. I came back to see how the game was at it's end and tried out renegades and edge of fate. the whole time I experienced the story it was saddening. Renegades was nothing but a retarded cash grab, and Edge of Fate made me realize that there has got to have been insane turn over with their loremasters/writers. Plenty of people have remarked on how much they leaned on Michael Moorcock for inspiration going back to even Marathon in terms of the wider metaphysics. I am starting to think those people are no longer at Bungie and have not been for awhile. Lore tabs from shit like the Whisper of the Worm ship talking about how the Demiurge of the player character is the "Gun" was good stuff. and stuff like The Flower Game. Or how the mechanics behind "paracausality" and shit like the wish dragons actually works and it's all well thought out. That stuff actually came off as good and meaningful because it made you think, made you feel.

I love the premise of the world that destiny has. I remember reading grimoire cards back in D1, where to actually make sense of anything you had to autistically read it because the narrative was shit for the most part, an issue that plagued the series for it's whole life. There's stuff like the Shin Malphur and Dregden Yor stories that're the background to The Last Word and Thorn exotics. It actually comes off very well as a space western. The hive trio origin with the great syzygy. Hell anything with the Hive really, mainly Oryx. And then there's shit later like Osiris and Saint being lovers.... despite in the lore them very clearly being close friends/brotherly. I understand that new writers come in and do retarded shit but Christ, they squandered something with alot of potential when it comes to the lore and the narrative. I think the best we got was forsaken and taken king on those fronts imo.

It's a shame that we never got full closure on things such as:
- The aphelion that the drifter encountered
- the dreaming city curse
- Niobe labs and how that part of the collapse went down
- the remaining Iron lords that went full pacifistic monks just outside the solar system
- end of the Hive civil war
- Literally everything to to do with the Vex, this is biggest one, we're told so much about how insanely overpowered the vex are and that the vast majority of all vex enemies we face are the lowest class of them and how they pretty much win every time the flower game is played but other than a few instances we rarely see it
- The Cabal
- The taken, we just got shit with the winnower, and Oryx being the confirmed favorite who so far was the only one with the power to "take", not even the witness able able to do that IIRC, getting some more info on them would've been great.
- the awoken and Mara Sov being some 5d chess master and Uldren coming back with the light as being something she actually wanted, it being heavily hinted that she was chasing after Godhood in the ascendent realm post Oryx looking to take that sweet sweet throne world.

The worst part is that, if you go through the lore added in the last update, a lot of that clearly hadn't been forgotten. Line by line:
  • Yeah, the Aphelion never did really get brought up again, sorry. He did confirm that that part of the Chronicon wasn't made up at least.
  • There were hints that Mara planned to make use of Riven's clutch to undo the curse, as the first one had just hatched while she was discussing it with Petra. Perhaps she viewed it as being possible to raise them to not be as devious as other Ahamkara, given the example of Taranis showing they don't have to be. Maybe that's stupid, who knows.
  • Not really addressed, but at least you can get the Black Armory weapons again! Really wish they would've done more with Ada-1 as a character.
  • Efrideet is mentioned in a lore tab still chilling with her pacifists. Saladin stays in touch, and she'll come if he calls, but he respects her decision to stay away. She knows he will call for her eventually though, so maybe that was a hint that she would return later.
  • Xivu Arath located her throne world and is in the process of reclaiming it, but Eris knows it will take her some time. Both she and Savathun still intend on fighting Eris. VI through Bael approached Savathun with an offer to deliver Taox from a simulated Fundament in the Vex network if she captures the Conductor for it. Presumably more of that would have been explored later on.
  • Based off of some of the rewards in MoT that probably were intended for next year and various lore entries, it seems very likely that there would have been more Vex content. Might have run into them in Old Chicago, I dunno. (As a Vex enjoyer, their lack of development over the years has always been annoying to me.)
  • Presumably, whenever we would have dealt with Xivu Arath, reclaiming Torobatl would have been a part of that expansion. Probably wouldn't have been for a while, but it seems like things were building up to that point eventually.
  • There was some lore with the Taken in Heresy, briefly expanded on in a recent lore entry, that the Taken on the Dreadnaught are basically collectively willing a new master into existence, the Lord of Every Nothing. It didn't make an appearance, but a lore tab stated that its plan would be to kill VI and use its power to become stronger.
  • I don't know if Mara had plans for godhood or anything, she always just kinda does what she wants. From lore and an interaction with her, she believes that Sjur Eido is still alive because the Nine offered to reveal her location if she would stop aiding the Vanguard. She told them to fuck off, she'll find her herself. Crow said he'd go with her, but she told him to remain with the Vanguard and she'd probably ask the Guardian for assistance.
So while none of this ever got fully resolved, and probably never will, at least we can get an idea of where they were likely going with those various loose story threads.

some developments.. but these are all piddlywinks really, no overarching plot really here, also the idea of going to the Dreadnaught again again is expected, and retarded, the vastness of the Solar System, and beyond, and somehow we must go to like 6 locations over and over, one of which is SlavBloc land.

I mean there are other dimensions, time travel other moons, they could Make a mega structure to go to, even locations on earth much mentioned, never experienced, all because bungies dev time is so shit for areas, Arc raiders maps are much bigger ( in terms of actual game area and not the 3-4 bike corridors on every Destiny map) and actually have verticality, and it took them no time to make by bungies standards.

well there was that time when they went for the veil and...
fuck you for reminding me of nimbus.

i also did the intro shit for the final shape thing with redditman but that's mostly time travel hijinks...

As someone who got into apex first then played Titanfall 2, yeah thats extremely accurate

Yeah i've been going through all the dungeons trying to finally solo them and have done Throne through grasp so far and man this game is so good, there will never be another game like it but lots of games will want to be like it. Even other mmos wont scratch the same itch because this itch is formed from the FPS aspect of destiny
the awoken and Mara Sov being some 5d chess master and Uldren coming back with the light as being something she actually wanted, it being heavily hinted that she was chasing after Godhood in the ascendent realm post Oryx looking to take that sweet sweet throne world.
was she ever implied to be some sort of 5d chest master? One of her first actions in the destiny universe is kicking the person set to be awoken queen out of the way so she could become it, she's always come off as someone who knows they aren't the main character desperately trying to be the main character no matter the cost. Whenever her plans actually work it seems like they only worked through random chance not some grand well planned chess play.

Are you talking about hive or fallen? Cause at least the fallen have the excuse of different houses doing different things, the hive are just all objectively evil minus the few lucent ones we ally with

I should clarify, the whole Dreadnaught stuff already happened in Heresy. In the lore tab that talks about her finding her throne world, Xivu Arath took control of the Dreadnaught post-Heresy and sailed to its location under the guidance of Toland, who apparently works for her now. So it's unlikely we'd ever return there; I assume a hypothetical expansion would involve either Torobatl, Xivu's throne world, or some combination of both.

Toland seeking out Xivu does make a lot of sense, since he was pissed at our Guardian for refusing the mantle of Taken King. Xivu is the only remaining Hive God under the sword logic.

ironizing both.
the lucent hive just rubs it in a very gay way and i'm pretty homophobic, which sucks since the premise is a'ight... especially with the trav being backstabby implications that bungie did their best to shy away from since the new writers are fucking hacks.
