The Disgaea Thread

Is 7 worth playing? I stopped after five because I heard 6 is complete and utter slop.
6 was an interesting game. It's not very good, and I often didn't feel like I was playing Disgaea. The story is also badly laid out. It follows a pattern of "meet someone new and die" until you get everyone. Then it's "character arc and die" until you confront the villain of the game. The story kind of got interesting by the end, but by that point, you're so checked out, it doesn't matter. The postgame isn't great either, nor is the item world. There's kind of no point in playing past the main story, but I did it for some very boring interactions with the cast of the first game. I'm not playing 7 until the newest version comes to Steam. I did play the demo of 7 on my Switch, however, and it did feel more like a Disgaea, so make of that what you will.

Holy shit, a sequel for Phantom Brave was announced. Maybe there's a chance for Soul Nomad 2

Does anyone have experience with Phantom Brave 2? The original is my favorite NIS game, thanks to Failure Fusion being a fun and quick way to grind to unreasonable levels. I see the sequel getting mixed reviews online, but I'm curious what people here think.

Like most modern NISA offering it's too much by the books, without any real attempt to innovate on story events and gameplay. It's still fun to play and see the old cast again, but it was less memorable.

This is an odd question to ask, but I always wondered how did Etna turn out the way she did given her adoptive father/ the one man she respects was the kindest demon in the series next to the Disgaea 5 cast? Given her backstory, you'd think she'd be like her canon self if krichevskoy never came into her life?
