KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act) Likely to Become US Law - EFF: 2023 version of KOSA would still require surveillance of anyone sixteen and under. It would put the tools of censorship in the hands of state attorneys general, and would greatly endanger the rights, and safety, of young people online.

Every american who mocked the british for doing this same thing or mocked china for the great firewall are retarded, because it was always coming for america too, as much as it is every other country that hasn't yet enacted an equivalent. Governments that want to control information (see: all of them) and social media companies that exist to gather as much data about you as possible (see: all of them) have an easy opportunity to get exactly what they want, using a shallow veneer of thinking about the children that people neurotically bludgeon themselves with, something even this place is guilty of perpetuating. They've seen other entities enact these policies, and they're seeing more and more how people largely put up with it without serious opposition.

Sure, there's multiple very good arguments for booting kids off the internet, but these sorts of bills will never accomplish keeping them from seeing depraved porn, interacting with pedos, becoming mentally stunted retards that can't focus on something for more than 5 seconds, or joining a glownigger honeypot that grooms them into becoming this month's mass shooter. I do think that if it's ever going to be meaningfully addressed it'll have to be by a governmental body, because the "it should be the parents" bit is a thought terminating cliche that everyone knows is never actually going to pan out ever in a billion years. The only policy though that'll get actual results without entailing all the privacy erosion and other bullshit that laws like these do, is simply banning kids from owning/operating smartphones and tablets and shit like that entirely, the same way we handle dozens of other things. But that's not even a policy that gets proposed, because governments and companies alike still ultimately want kids to be glued to screens feeding them propaganda.

It's only going to get worse, and it won't be long before western governments make concerted efforts to do things like ban consumer VPNs.

I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Of course, in secret, the end of modern society is coming.

Once they force EVERY gentile in the world to hand over their personal IDs for social media, it only takes three years before mass purges across the USA, then the rest of the world, break loose on "coincidence". The same "coincidences" that formed European history since the destruction of the Roman Empire and the same "coincidences" that shaped 20th century history and onwards.

It is the same sort of MASS PURGE the FEMA camp conspiracy theorists warned about 2 decades ago.

One out of control protest, followed by communist revolution, Civil War, Genocidal regime, WW3, full-blown NWO globalist finale, then total death.

If people do not understand the untold consequences, then the worst man-made mass extinction event in human history is all but an inevitable.

It will be a spectacle beyond the Bronze Age collapse and it WILL utterly leave nothing but the screams of Browns and Blacks murdering each other like the wild animals they are.

Most of us have already accepted it. We're taking this lying down, especially after the incoming birthright citizenship decision. Total Globohomo Victory.

Brace for lots of angry doomposting on this one. No matter what avenues of stopping this are present (or likely, namely Senate infighting killing it and Trump refusing to sign anything until congress hands him voter ID via SAFE), the dooming will continue until morale deteriorates and people start killing themselves or rage quitting.
At this point digital ID is a foregone conclusion. The only people who haven't accepted it are leftists who have an infantile view of the world and genuinely think it's possible to fight back against a dystopia.

The only course of action is to bow. Nothing will ever get better in our lifetimes, or in the next several thousand years.

We need to mentally prepare for the prospect of everything we hold dear being taken away from us with prejudice, and dying as lonely, miserable husks as the world descends further and further into the eternal hellscape it was destined to be.

Instead of being a doomposting faggot I'm quietly preparing for the worst outcome and making local archives of as much of the online content I love while I still can.

Ultimately if the Internet becomes the authoritarian shithole every government on earth desperately wants it to be (yes, including yours) I'll just stop using it except for normie shit like applying for jobs or making travel arrangements. I own 7 generations of consoles and stacks of old games, I've been rebuying DVDs dirt cheap because nobody wants physical media, and there are more books than I'll ever read in my lifetime.

I don't want the Internet to end like this, but if it does I'll be absolutely fine returning to monke.

Good time as any to remind people that Stop Killing The Internet is a thing now.

Don't get me wrong, the real solution would be the complete extermination political re-alignment of every western elite in charge right now, but it's a start. Hopefully, this also reminds people that the literal red vs blue politics of America are nothing short of a joke united in fucking your shit up just to feel something and distract you from this. Don't ever forget these sorts of events whenever you feel like playing cheerleader for your favorite ghoul in charge.

Call me optimistic but even if they are to pass it, I cannot imagine who or how this is exactly going to get enforced. Which agency is this going to fall under? They might even make a new department or agency under an existing one, what isn’t to say that would get scrapped because as we know, more government expenditure usually gives a lot of people cold feet. I can see the bill dying because of the amount of money required to enforce it and the jurisdictional nightmare it would probably be. Also with the push from Facebook, it isn’t surprising they do this, however the U.S. government already has done stuff like the mass surveillance program attempted by the NSA back in the 2000s post 9/11.
May as well call it the Failed Parents Act. How dare parents take responsibility over their children's online access, let's make the government do the parenting job instead. That will surely go well for them, just like how orphanages always raise the brightest and most upstanding US citizens, right?? Fucking hell.
The worst is how many retarded boomer parents are using the deaths of their sons and daughters as a means to push this. I mean yes it is horrible they died, but I do not think they would like to be politicised by their own parents to push a bill that would not put a stop to “bullying”.

I just want to know how many people here believe this is gonna die in the senate? I'm hopeful it will
The Senate wants Duty of Care, no preemption of state laws, and no removal of liability (all things the house version is carefully crafted to not have). It's very highly likely that it'll die there or a compromise will be reached that will then fail in the house because this vote was carefully calculated to happen when like a third of the house was not present due to the upcoming holiday.

It's basically a take it or leave it proposition for the senate - either they just take the house version as-is or the back-and-forth will likely kill any chance of this sticking.

And that's not even getting into the potential constitutional challenges. SCOTUS let porn restrictions stand in FSC v. Paxton but they were very clear that those only really stood because the laws in question were so narrowly focused specifically on sites that almost exclusively feature pornography. Bans that try to hit a broader swathe of content or hit sites that only incidentally have pornography as a small portion of the overall content have the potential to be smacked down by SCOTUS because they don't seem especially keen to give the government more power regulating speech than they got with Paxton.

Ha ha ha, for all their LARPing about muh freedumbs, there is utterly NOTHING merilards can or will do about their upcoming tagging/branding by their masters. Say what you want about eurofags and our gayshit but at least it takes us a few years of paperwork and committees before half-assing this Minority report bullshit. Europe gonna do it first? Yeah right.
Meanwhile, merimutts WILL have the barcode tramp-stamped on xheir buttholes by Peter Thiel, and it WILL be as the founders intended, I can't wait to hear how this was the plan all along :story:
On the brightside it may shine some light on the cognitive dissonance that enables the supporting of "Our Guys ™️" even when they're not really yours at all.

The actual answer to this issue is making children owning/using hardware that has unrestricted access illegal and putting control back into the hands of parents.
There is ZERO need for software age verification. Any software restriction can be circumvented with software or hardware.

These politicians have zero clue how the tech works, or are willingly ignoring that it will never work to push through the 24/7 surveillance state.

If this shit passes we will move towards a dystopian future where old devices with unrestricted OS versions are traded on the black market.

What transpires in the UK and the EU may yet come to pass in the US. Be advised, this is not just a fight for one side of the pond. Governments across the world are going to try to regulate the Internet in the most retarded and draconian ways.
This is not so much doomerposting or an 'I told you so' as it is a matter of fact.

This!
I've been following the UK's many efforts to do just that.. From a 'safety panel' comprising of 6 boomers who only use the Internet for facebook, the push to ban VPNs, ID checks in place that was bypassed by sending a picture of a video game character, to pushes to ban any and all encryption (including company networks lmao).
There's zero nuance because they have no idea how any of this works. Expect the same for any 'safety acts' proposed in the US. It's never about protecting children, it's about control.
It's retarded, but they don't care. There's a seemingly global push to destroy everything we love about the Internet, to turn it from a magical window to interact with anyone across the world to a highly regulated and extremely homosexual prison of information and speech.

Fight it!

Not only too stupid to understand how to use computers, but too uneducated to understand the trojan horse that is government surveillance in the form of "think of the children!" ""safety"".
They don't care about the kids or safety either, its always been a uniparty system, even the republicans within my state have passed left wing laws despite their constituents wishes.
Its becoming increasingly apparent we need to bring back hangings.
