There are already entire organizations and lawyers like Preston Byrnes hell bent on and volunteering to defend organizations against these apocalyptically tyrannical laws that facebook is trying to force down the throats of Americans via unregistered non-profits and 86 lobbyists, and some of these laws have already been slapped down.

They tried very similar shit to this 15 years ago with equally draconian and privacy violating laws like SOPA and PIPA and those laws failed, too.

The same guy from r/linux just found more evidence that the entire GLOBAL PUSH for this Age Verification shit is coming from facebook, who was hoping the goyim nigger cattle would not notice that is was zucker(((berg))) pushing 10's of millions of dollahs (oy vey) into a world-wide lobbying effort to stave off any responsibility facebook might have to verify the age of the users its purposefully addicting to its brainrot content on insta.

This proves that the rich retards that own huge corners of the internet do not care if the fucking world is burned so long as they are allowed to maintain power over the ashes. It also proves that most politicians can be bought, all over the world, for around $50k - $250k to completely dismantle the rights and privacy of everyone on earth with zero regard for how that might effect anything.
 
Oh not this shit again.. The courts need to do their job and slap this shit down at the state levels, which should kill any chance at efforts at the fed level.

This shit would mean the end of anonymity. It would also (specifically in this bill's case) mean any site to the right of some place like "truth out" or DK, will require a doxxing to use. Imagine having to post an ID to shit post on 4chan or even access this site. These types of age laws (and specifically past fed attempts) also usually require sites retain lists and copies/proof of ID for... reasons surely having nothing to do with fears of security breaches. I mean the states that are passing these laws already tend to gloat about how NSFW sites blocking their states was the whole point to begin with. It's pretty clear this is about making it as hard and unpleasant as possible for people to view things these fucks sky voices supposedly don't approve of.

As for the post above. It would certainly go a ways to explain how and why this shit suddenly when from 0 to 60 in about five seconds world wide. It is scary how fast someone is at trying to make this the new normal.

From what I've seen is that we'll likely be safe for now. Even if the House bill passes, the people in the Senate say it's DOA because they don't have things they have in their Senate version. And the Senate version won't pass because it has things the House doesn't like. Nothing to celebrate, just we'll be safe because each chamber thinks their version is better.

Yeah, Blackburn is ending her reign of enshittiifcation in congress to make a run at governor of Tennessee. Pretty much any bad internet legislation you've heard of over the last 25 years or so is, at least in part, pushed by her because she's basically a "family values" RINO paid off by the telecom industry to do things like kill net neutrality, make it impossible for you to actually hold ISPs accountable for selling you service they can't provide, and turning the internet into broadcast TV levels of goyslop so she doesn't have to deal with people looking into her many many scandals.

EDIT: Also as an aside - I really cannot forgive the retard progleft people who ideologically captured the EFF. The EFF used to be razor-focused on providing input on bills and lobbying to keep stupid shit like this from coming to pass. After COVID, it doesn't seem to do anything anymore except kvetch about abortion and trannies so now we're in this situation where the lawmakers are just scrawling down whatever sounds good instead of consulting tech people on how anything works.

welp, KIDS Act passed the house. Guess we'll see if it dies over disagreements with the Senate again, but I'm already handwriting many angry letters to my representative for being a retard.
 
The vote passed the House with bipartisan support. The vote was 267-117. Here is the list of everyone who voted YEA or NAY on the bill:

Yeah here's another angle for this; your average grey-headed geriatric senator does not know that social media is more than just Facebook, (and MAYBE TikTok but all they know about TikTok is "it's made by China and BAD".) Sometimes they know what YouTube is. Sometimes they know what Wikipedia is. It's a gamble if they know about Xwitter, Reddit, or any other websites. Anything else is "obscure".

Facebook is already a pervasive, no-privacy shithole. Of course they don't believe in opsec because they've been brainwashed for years and years that the culture of Facebook is ""normal"" and ""good"". Or they poopoo the entire idea of the internet as a whole because they don't understand the benefits of networked knowledge and freedom. Fact is, if they weren't aware of the internet before the smartphone boom, they really don't know what the fuck they're talking about and are getting emotionally manipulated.
 
Every time I hear Bipartisan I just know it's something to make my life infinitely worse, need to start making notes for every senator that engages in "bipartisanship" and remember to put them on the nigger list for all time.
