Stefanik was a big Trump ally back in his first term. Just goes to show that loyalty doesn’t get you rewarded by Trump. No sympathy for her but it’s just interesting how these clowns keep falling for it. Maybe she thought having big boobs was enough to stay in his good graces? Maybe not getting Mar-A-Lago face cost her his endorsement?

I'm going to be honest... I see a two camp thing, and there could be a lot more little subdivisions...
But there are MAGA people who are MAGA first and only, their politics aligns with Republicans most of the time because they are more conservative, but they don't trust the republican establishment. They are die hard Trump Cultists, when they chant his little catch phrases, they actually believe in it.
On the other hand, there are the Republican first, MAGA second people. Sure, they voted for trump, but only because he was their party choice, and they would have been just as happy with Cruz or Bush #3...

One group wants to get rid of the establishment and maybe even elect Trump president for life (and given his age and appearance that might be happening)
The others are still gargling the balls of Reagan, trickle down, Born In The USA, Bomb some brown people every two years just to keep them happy...

Remember when "conservatism" involved conserving the environment? What a strange time we live in where the "conservatives" not only don't care about conservation, but actively work against it.

It's genuinely just bizarre, and definitely feels like it's gotten much worse in the Trump era of US politics. The right wing seems to have this strange compulsion now that because those filthy leftists want to protect the environment it's the right's duty to actively work to destroy it, seemingly forgetting that they also have to live here. Such a sad side effect of this scorched earth hyper-polarized era of politics.

What they don’t realize is all of the consequences of this mindset will fall on them. More left-wing states aren’t going to roll back their environmental protections because of a SCOTUS decision.

Some right wing states that rely upon sportsmen, camping or other nature tourism will probably act the same.

It’s going to be the real shitholes like Oklahoma that will get paved over or whatever.

This is kinda true. Some of the stories from Regime Change even point out how people like Lutnick tried telling Trump the truth about his fantasies about tariffs other countries supposedly had on US goods being false. But when push came to shove everyone just fell in line promoting his deranged fantasies on US trade rather than seriously push back on it, resulting in Trump getting to take a massive shit on the economy for average people.

So figures like Bessent, Lutnick, and so on all know they're talking bullshit all the time, but are still going along with it to stay in Trump's good graces. Makes it all the more deranged when I see people trying to argue they make so much sense when we have leaks from them in private speaking against the very policies they're promoting.
