For "true" tea, made from Camellia sinensis, anything more than a quarter cup, I would take them to the vet, as at a minimum you are likely to be dealing with gastroenteritis from the tannins, presenting as vomiting, anorexia, and possibly even minor non-infectious hemorrhagic diarrhea (which should have no serious clinical consequence) and possibly dehydration. It is possible at that dosage if the cat is sensitive to the methylxanthine alkaloids (caffeine, theophylline, and their various friends) one could start to see the manifestation of cardiac involvement. Anything less than a quarter cup, assuming one is talking about an adult cat, I would not be concerned, but I would keep an eye on them with a high index of suspicion if anything out of the ordinary is seen.
For herbal teas, any amount I would take them to the vet. Cats have a very limited capacity to process the phenolic compounds usually seen in herbal teas and even small amount can be hepatotoxic.
It’s regular builders tea. The bastard has gotten a taste for it. He is an eating machine, and will go for anything left unguarded. I stopped him from drinking it, but he wasn’t happy (I got the claws) and he snuck back and used his paw to scoop out the dregs. I already have to guard buttered toast, and all dairy and meat, now I have to guard my brew as well…
His head is so fat he can’t stick it more than a little way into a mug so perhaps there’s a natural defence there … I need narrower teacups!

Typical British shorthair. They are well known for being very food/drink motivated. Fortunately it sound like he got an incredibly small dose of typical tea, so I would have little concern.
