Not-so-much new allies, just better ones who are more worthy of our attention and resources. Poland, Finland, Japan come to mind more immediately but I might also tentatively give the nod to the Philippines, Veitnam.
They at least have functional-to-mostly-functional militaries and a political will to defend themselves. Even Ukraine with all of its corrupt shenanigans would make a better wartime ally than Britain at this point. I'd definitely feel more confident going to war with them on our side than Germany who's contribution to a war for Europe would amount to helmets and refugee aid for Muslims.
We need allies who can field armies, not dependencies who don't pay taxes.

Oh sure. No argument from me.
I think the US will find it much harder to establish an equivalent world order in the Asia-Pacific for some of the reasons i gave here [1] but if the US wants to abandon its existing commitments in Europe and the middle east then it's free to do so.
Americans here get angry when i point out the US is going about this in the most humiliating and dishonorable way possible, and that this will hurt American prospects in the future. But hey, that's politics baby.
For what it's worth I still think the US will need allies, not just for power projection but also because Europe is still the third largest trading block in the world and would be helpful for enforcing sanctions on China when Taiwan finally goes off. A non aligned Europe will make US-Taiwan guarantees look even weaker then they already do now that you've failed to defend a bunch of sand dunes from Iranian dollar store drones.
This war cant help but give all of Asia pause when it comes to cooperating with the Americans.

Iran conceded position after position for weeks during the bombing.
Anyway, I don't see how this new closure works in Iran's favor. Their peoples' hopes and dreams rode on this deal working out for at least a little. Now we're looking at the hole again?
I just don't know about that. Meanwhile I am just fine over here. War? No war? Straits? Whatever. So, I'm not sure this plays well for Iran. Trump is embarrassed. Oh no. Happens every week. Wait two days and the new one will get released.

Sanctions did not break Cuba, did not break North Korea, did not break Iran and it is idiotic to assume that trying to sanction them harder would have any results. This is the point. You must be intentionally coping to not understand how Cuba is an example.

If the US sanctions China Europe will follow suit whether it wants to or not.

Probably just more bluffing, but it's nice that he's directly calling out Iran using Hezbollah as an intentional wedge to fuck with Israel-US relations.
