Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

The best Metal Gear game is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Metal Gear becomes so much better when they threw subtlety overboard and decided to embrace the crazy shit, like Raiden chucking a Metal Gear by hand, or a senator who can punch a tank and make it explode because NANOMACHINES, SON!
Story wise think everyone agrees. I wish phantom liberty didnt have the retarded base building gacha retard shit glued to it. Kills the pacing.

On PC there are mods that force offline mode and dynamically increase the amount and quality of the resources you get and it's a much much better experience.

Metal Gear was always ridiculous. Even MGS had its ridiculous moments. So going full banana with the protagonist having the power of God and anime on his side is the way to go.

I mean, Metal Gear Solid had you fistfight a cyborg ninja who was armed with a sword. You might as well cut out the middleman and be a cyborg ninja swordsman yourself.

that was the plague of qtes, regenerating health, overanimated movement that took 30 frames to turn around, load times that were way too long, tutorial tips on the screen constantly and respawning 10 seconds from where you died.

It's genuinely hard for me to list any good games from that era. On the xbox you had bayonetta, tenchu z and ninja gaiden black ironically japanese games on the most western appealing console there was. Then on ps3 you had dmc4, mgs4, god of war 3 and uncharted that's about it.
Still not even close to being as bad as the 8th gen. On the Nintendo side of things it was good, but Sony fully transitioned to making “cinematic”/open world slop and Xbox just shat the bed and released nothing, The current 9th gen is the worst it’s ever been. 6th gen was kino.

Paying $20 a year for Nintendo Online isn't nearly as bad as naysayers cry about it being. Would you prefer it by the month, like everything, so you can bitch about paying for one more thing a month?

Nintendo reserves its right to protect its IPs. You didn't make Mario, Link, Pikachu/Pokemon .etc so get the fuck over it. Palworld is just some unimaginative piece of shit thought by assholes who still live off of dumb high school ideas such as giving pokemon-like creatures the ability to wield guns.

Whether you're not selling your fan game is not the point, it comes down to infringing on a copyright you knowingly did not make. Copyright Infringement is violating a copyright without the permission of the holder, such as Nintendo's. Armchair lawyers on the internet believe "uhhhhhhh ackshully, as long as I'm not making money, I can have Samus Aran eating out Princess Daisy in my shitty porn visual novel I'm making!"

The Steam Machine, once its out, will be an overpriced box of junk that'll grow obsolete within a few months to a year. Valve fanboys will fall over themselves buying it anyways to pledge their loyalty to Gaben as they do buying Steam games they won't ever play (nor will getting a Steam Machine will help with that, they'll still play the same 3 shitty games).
Here we see the rare kiwi tendie in his natural habitat, ferociously defending his favorite company using his labo™ mastersword.

I think GTA6 is going to suck. That’s not the unpopular opinion. The unpopular opinion is: with the nature of the modern games economy and with how much other games are rescheduling their releases around GTA6 like it’s 2013, I believe GTA6 is going to fail so spectacularly as to create an actual market crash.
I think it’ll suck but that the goyim will delude themselves into believing it’s good (because of muh hyperrealistic horse testicles o algo) and that it’ll be a stunning market success which will push every other gaming company to chase the dragon even harder.

Well nintedo's always making good games focused on gameplay, maybe a bad time to say that with prime 4's recent blunder.

And yes, sony games have too many interruptions but I will say the core gameplay has improved overall. 7th gen games are all autopilot games, games like asscreed and arkham are glorified rythm games where you mash attack and occasionally hit counter in response to a counter prompt. Its the generation of mark and execute because you cant even be trusted to aim, its batman vision which is STILL plaguing games that compensate for awful rule of 3rd's camera systems that dont let you see your surroundings because half your screen has to have your characters back covering it. 7th gen games are very child proofed, they even started that hold to press nonsense. These games weren't fun and removed any sense of play from their game, there was no deeper systems or playstyles just mindless crap that was all spectacle and no substance.

This is only a problem due to fixed item spawn points, i.e predictability.; Nobody really bothered to adress this issue - the easy way to improve that would be to make health\armour\power-up spawn points cycle positions.
Literally all games of the era had set item/weapon spawn points and those did nothing to cripple their popularity.

George Lucas actually delivered good shit, and just later on didn't have enough people who could tell him which ideas needed to be scrapped, and how to rework ideas that didn't need scrapping. Even the Prequel Trilogy, flawed as it may be, was full of cool ideas and fun stuff that could be explored. And it was the richest era in Star Wars history, with all the EU material and the insane hype around the movies.
Obviously there's going to be some subjectivity here, and since this thread is supposed to be about unpopular opinions about video games, I won't go into too much, but I very seriously disagree that anything having to do with the prequels were fun, cool, or should be explored. They were terrible as films, the creative ideas were terrible, and I hate everything about them. I went from being a huge Star Wars fan to immediately hating it and never wanting anything to do with it ever again since 1999, and there's really nothing that's going to change my opinion on that.

Even people who hated the Prequels loved games designed around them, like the Republic Commando, Starfighter, and the Battlefront games. Lego Star Wars started off as a Prequel series and branched off to have multiple sequels and spinoffs. Even game series like the Rogue Squadron and Jedi Knight games which focused on the Original Trilogy had Prequel nods left and right, such as the double-bladed lightsaber being added into Jedi Academy, plus the Naboo and Jedi Starfighters added to Rogue Squadrons 2 and 3.

The Prequel Era was when Lucas could literally stamp the Star Wars name on a literal turd, and it'd sell, and they had so many games coming out for Star Wars, it was its own game genre, where they produced one banger after another. As opposed to now, where it'd be a miracle if a new Star Wars game came out at all, let alone if it came out decent.

I can't understand someone hating the PT era games, especially since they got a lot of what the PT did right while removing or minimizing the things the PT got wrong.

For example, do you hate Jar-Jar? Congrats, the first level of the Battlefront campaign has you shooting Gungans who look and sound like him. Enjoy killing him a couple dozen times while riding a tank.

Do you like the idea of the Great Jedi Purge, but thought the youngling massacre scene was a tad bit cringey? Congrats, the Jedi Purge levels in the Revenge of the Sith game has you fighting a legion of Jedi, topped off by a Jedi version of the PT stunt coordinator who also looks and fights like Geralt of Rivia. Enjoy your boss fights with him and Mace Windu.

Yeah, I obviously wouldn't claim Star Wars wasn't financially successful, especially compared to now, but that doesn't make it good. I will admit Battlefront 2 (2004) was a decent game, though.

I was a huge fan until the first prequel movie. My friends and I played the Star Wars RPG pretty much every weekend for two years straight. We went to see it together in a theater, we were so hyped. After I left the theater, we never played it again. I never watched another Star Wars movie. I sold my Star Wars cards. I can only assume you didn't know how much better it was before that. It's dead to me.

Tell that fake ass sob story to someone who believes it.

The NES NInja Gaiden games are similar to Mario Lost Levels, in that only the most devoted players can get within a stone's throw of beating the game.

It also shares similarities with the Castlevania series; one could say they're cousins in terms of game design.

But for my money, the NES Castlevanias are harder than the Ninja Gaiden games, especially since Ryu is faster than the Belmonts.

That came out in 2005, I believe. And it hardly was the only banger of the PT era.

The Revenge of the Sith game finally got the "Star Wars fighting game" idea right, after Teras Kasi failed as the original attempt.

Republic Commando looks like a Halo clone, but do not be fooled. It's more like Rainbow Six Siege or Mass Effect. Running and gunning as a lone commando will end with you dead rather quickly.

I think you misunderstand why I don't like it. Jedi, and the focus on them, is very gay to me. I hate what they did with the idea of the Clone Wars, which was something intentionally left vague before the prequel movies. It was a big background point of the RPG I used to play with my friends, where it involved deep cover clone assassinations and body snatching, planet-busting bioweapons, and all kinds of crazy fucked up shit that traumatized the galaxy in ways that affected the game world (and is what allowed the Emperor to gain power eventually).

I hate the tone of the prequel movies. I hate the aesthetic. I didn't just dislike Jar Jar because he had a funny voice and was retarded, literally everything about the movie was awful. It was boring, bafflingly stupid from a worldbuilding angle, a storytelling angle, and compared to what my idea of Star Wars was before, just something completely different entirely.

Also a lot of the games before that were great, like Dark Forces, TIE Fighter, and Shadows of the Empire. Better than most of the stuff that came out later.
