Worst television episodes of all time? - sitcoms/dramas/miniseries/you name it!

I gave up on House when the writers decided to just drop any character growth House had been through, having him break up with Cuddy, and then drive a truck through her House.

House is one of those shows that would be so much better if it had just ended a season or two earlier when the writers ran out of things for the character to do, instead they tried to reset everything to season one meaning everything he had been through to get him to season six was pointless.
I've complained about House before.

Like @BubbaRobot887 was saying, they had to constantly escalate at the end of every season. House is committed to an asylum, kills Wilson's girlfriend and is thrown in prison (for other unrelated crimes). And this guy's still showing up to work at the same hospital? He got shot. When he recovered his first demand was to get rid of new clean carpet in his office and put the bloody carpet back on. Is the blood stained carpet his war trophy now? He should have had his medical license revoked then.

Second problem is House himself just gets more and more immature as the show goes on. I sort of attribute it to the milieu of the 2000s, the whole culture became very soy. But Hugh Laurie's already bald as an egg and pushing fifty. If I wanted Simon Baker I'd go watch The Mentalist.

And lastly, they never managed to replace the chemistry of Cameron, Foreman and Chase. I never really cared about any of the other fuckboys besides Amber and of course they killed her off.

My thing is Hugh Laurie has an insane gift for light comedy(just watch Jeeves and Wooster) so the episodes where he was mellowing out at home while still being as determined as ever to help people at work were working(one my my favorite episodes was the one where he took care of the baby)so they didn't need to top themselves.

The writers could have given us the intense seasons that led to House having the break down and then recovering from his drug addiction and then had a season or two of House functioning without drugs or running into houses with a truck.

They even established that off the drugs he was still the dominate one in his and Cuddy's relationship without him being a jackass about it and then at the end of the season they nuked it all just to try and top themselves.

Reducing the character to one note was such a betrayal of Hugh Laurie's tallent as an actor. No wonder he wanted out.

Chiana cucking Dargo with his son on farscape
Apart from Aeryn Sun, the women on Farscape weren’t really written all that great. They were just eye candy and not even good eye candy. It’s most noticeable with Chiana ‘cause she stuck around for the full run but she didn’t develop that much. If anything she became Flanderized. “Hiya-diddly-ho, neighborino! You wanna put your weird space dick in my mouth?

I will give them credit insomuch as that's in character for Chiana (see Captain Syrup's post, above).

I'm gonna go with the episode where discount white Guinan shows up. It's been a while, so I might be forgetting some things, but I'm pretty sure her first act after showing up is trying to kill Crichton. The worst part is, everyone at the end is just totally OK with this, including Crichton.

So, yeah, any episode with her in it. She doesn't add anything to any scene; it's just "hurr durr look how silly the hippy dippy old lady is!"

Noranti is an obvious Zhaan replacement, they even gave her a politician backstory. But Noranti did nothing else after that.

And while we’re on the subject they kept throwing gimmicks at Chiana like they were trying to remember why she was on the show. First she gets psychic powers that make her go blind (this show is a soap opera) then they just install those dumb cat eyes in her head and the handicap goes away. None of it stuck or went anywhere.

I think it would have been less bad if he was the dude from the Eurodance act Captain Jack

He cast a flamboyantly gay TV presenter and had him play an immortal sex machine.

The thing is it wasn't sustainable. It’s like if they made a hard-boiled cop show and cast Rip Taylor. That’s Torchwood.

Six feet under. The last episodes with Nate, where he goes full asshole. And every episode that tried to push gay bullshit. Which were half of them, I think. How the fuck I even managed to watch so much of this shit?

I gave up on SFU after a season. All those people were assholes and it got tiring watching them.

I gave up watching Game of Thrones when they decided to not have Tyrion's river chain in the big battle in the 2nd to last episode of the second season.

It's the best part of the book, all this buildup to reveal that Tyrion wasn't just making weapons for the siege, he was actually making a giant fucking chain to trap Stannis' fleet so the wildfire ships could burn the whole fleet.

GRRM is a lazy bloated fuck, as I've said before, but he was happy to use ideas I never see in fantasy books, like remembering that sailing ships were also galleys with oarsmen for maneuvers, or that fucking river chains existed. They used them to cross rivers and protect harbors since the days of Carthage; we even used them in the Revolutionary War.

Indeed, Tyrion's plain is clearly inspired by Leo III raising Constantinople's famous chain across the Golden Horn to trap the Umayyad Caliphate's fleet, then set it alight with Greek Fire back in 717 AD.

The fact that it took like what 20+ years for the BBC to get rid of Barrowman because he's a creepy fucking pervert too.....

Numb arm....n...arm narm narm narm

Lalo is bizarrely underpowered in BCS
I didn't like his character to begin with. I don't know, I can see why Nacho would have a single mention in BB, but Lalo... He is so out of place. I can't recall it, but I don't even think Gus mentioned him by name in that scene where he tortured Hector by naming every single of his relatives who died thus leaving him the last Salamanca.

Good for you, since the first season was basically like the first season of Sopranos - more funny than dark. After that it got worse and tried to push a ton of bullshit like polygamy, veganism and, yeah, gay stuff. I don't know how I managed to finish it, let alone how in the fuck there were 5 seasons of that.

Speaking of which, wasn't it made by Alan Ball? You know, the same guy who produced Banshee? I mean, again, I don't know why I've watched that shit, it was basically live action anime with some softcore sex in between to stretch the runtime, otherwise it was clinically retarded. Just for your interest, there is a plot point where a major of some shithole gets killed at a construction site with explosives, it goes off so hard that everything collapses. Same day there is a shootout with a grenade launcher involved. After that FBI sends ONE SINGLE AGENT who looks at it and concludes "lol who cares it's B-umfucknowhere-shee". Guess, it takes place in the universe where 9/11 didn't happen.

But back on topic, what could be the worst episode for something like this? Well, let me tell you. There is an episode where cops fuck with local neo-nazis and said nazis then see one of the black cops dining with his white wife. Then they confront her on the street, see that she is pregnant and decided to beat her to give her miscarriage. Sounds awful, right? Ehhh... Let's start with the fact that we've never seen those nazis before, even though they are established faction in the series. How many times this woman appeared before, what do you think? ONCE. IN THE PREVIOUS SEASON. JUST TO TELL THAT SHE IS PREGNANT. And she was absent from the plot right till this moment. Ok, maybe the beating is awfully brutal so we feel sorry for her? Well, their main guy punches her face once and then kicks her with that force that won't break a watermelon. It's so fucking dumb that it almost looks like a skit from some 2000's comedy show. You know, when you could be edgy on television. And of course they play it out like a giant tragedy even though I barely know who this is. But wait - there is more! Police catches those guys, but of course the black cop isn't happy. He comes to ABSOLUTELY EMPTY POLICE STATION and I shit you not, goes on a tirade that all his life he was humiliated for being black and even when his dad got his car stolen, cops just laughed at him, urgh, it's so fucking preachy, you can hear the screenwriter beating his meat with his free hand. Then he tells those guys that he will let them free if they manage to beat him. Ok, let's say they do, what's next? They will have a fuckton of new charges on top, other two guys were just present and could snitch on the one who did it, what's the point? But of course, they are nazis so they are dumb and try to beat him. And of course negro doesn't get beaten in a fight one against three, but beats all of them and brutalizes the one who did it. The rest of the cops come back to see that and suggest him to make it look like nazis tried to escape, but he AGAIN goes on a fucking tirade how "imma black and loyf iznd fayr", arghhhh. For a show that people call hip and cool for some reason, it has libshit morals on the level of some Netflix trash.

I managed two seasons of Banshee. After the second it just comes too silly, you're right. Proctor was the best part of the show.

LOL, sure he wanted out after 8 whole seasons and it went into syndication. Coincidence, I’m sure.
Starting with season five he kept asking for more money to try and get out of his contract, ot's how he became the highest paid actor on tv for a while.

He used to go on every talk show in America moaning about how he never saw his kids any more because of House. It makes sense when you hear him talk about his own neglectful parents.

Now he has fuck you money, just picks whatever bullshit projects he wants for the rest of his life.

I saw a few mentioned reading the thread but my takes:

-Radio Free Trumaine from Married With Children, so glad other people picked this one. It stuck with me as a kid because it was like watching these posers pretend to be cool and it just failed all the time, the lead guy being this terrible Zack Morris clone but edgy for Fox, even then all I could think about was the Homer Goes to College episode with the 80's college movie cliches. It was my first real experience watching a primetime adult show and realizing it can be just as shit as any of the TGIF or Saved By the Bell I watched. It was also my first real exposure to what a spin-off attempt episode was, I knew something was off but I didn't know why and how it felt like a waste of an episode.

-Not just the final season of That 70's Show, but the Season 7 too. To have the wedding not happen is gay but they're still together and now Donna's blonde and honestly looking pretty run through. It's clearly spinning its wheels to be the final season but they just kept going but no one wanted to be there but Red and Kitty. Hyde's black dad and his half-sister ruined so much and was DEI before it was really apparent in stuff and at this point Jackie is just an annoying hag. Kelso getting Shannon Elizabeth pregnant came off like it was for him to be written off way earlier but they dragged it out. The only good thing was Red opening up the muffler shop because he sells it for the finale but they completely changed that ending for That 90's Show.

-The last 4-5 episodes of Chuck. It was the fun 80's homage show that somehow kept going and the cast was incredibly likeable, yet for finally having a firm end date with Season 5, those last episodes with Sarah getting her memory erased and being manipulated by an out of nowhere villain were painful to watch. All these characters are getting growth and moving on yet we have to sit through waiting for the reset to happen which is supposed to be the very final scene. Yet you're so jaded by that point because it's deliberately mimicking the first episode and you know they're not going to really break them up. It's the kind of finale that really stops me from rewatching the whole series every now and then.

-Step By Step, Cody just disappears for the last part of season 5 and a new guy shows up who is clearly supposed to be Cody. Now we know it's because Cody's actor was falsely accused of beating his wife due to custody issues and he was just dropped and blacklisted from the industry because no one would ever think a cokehead bitch is lying in 1996. The new guy's name is Flash and he worked for Frank as the bumbling construction new guy for about 4 episodes and is neither cool stoner/surfer persona or a karate guy, he's doofy weak jew stereotype, no aura at all. This was also when ABC had their usual "TGIF show goes to Disney World" episode so we have this Fake Cody doing a world record attempt to ride all the rides in one day but you don't give a fuck about the guy because he just showed up last week. I quit watching the show after those episodes.
